This is a great book for those beginning in web design. The book
This is a great book for those beginning in web design. The book has a really clean layout which makes it easy to read and follow along. Christopher Schmitt touches upon each aspect of creating a web site: html and css, web typography, colors, and images, including how to handle images for a responsive website. Some history and explanations are given on each web element like bit depth or color schemes, which can be beneficial if you have no experience at all with that area. There are a couple of things that I liked about this book. First of all, the book has lots of visuals for you. He doesn’t just talk about an element, he also shows you what he is talking about. Screenshots are given of how the resulting code should look onscreen when working with html and css as well as things like a chart of multiple variations of a photo to demonstrate the differences between a maximum quality JPEG to a 2bit dithered PNG. When talking about tools like Google Analytics, he gives you step by step instructions along with screenshots of each setup screen so you can follow along. Secondly, he has lots and lots of web site references to help you with creating and testing your web site. His warning tips and his chapter on Challenges in Web Design are also helpful in getting information about any possible conflicts when working with a certain element. If you are looking for a book that gives you a good start on web design and creating images, this is your book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
