Read this book! It's Amazing!
This is such a fantastic book! I loved it! I loved how developed the world was, with the powers, and the races, though I wish we could learn more about the Narcolym and Shythe, and why they were different, why they were different races and such. And then it could've been longer so I could read it more! Because I want to read more!
I absolutely loved the romantic conflict, and how it was mixed with the political conflict! And it so very much tormented Dez with what she felt, and what she was taught to think, and rules were pushed and broken, and it was fun and exciting when it wasn't death-defying! And it was so amazing to read!
The characters were so good, too! They had their quarks, like clothing, fighting, and dating, and they were real, with real problems, you know? You could really relate to them, what they were going through, like when they get their powers, it's basically all of the sucky-ness of being a teenager is compacted into a single day, added with some really awesome powers!
The plot was absolutely terrific, with a few twists that I wasn't expecting, plus all the things that the characters thought might happen, and kinda did, but a bit differently then they thought they would because they only had their suspicions, they weren't in the know. Yep.
This was just an excellent, amazing, wonderful, fantastic, wonderful book that you guys just have to check out!!!

When I first picked up this book, I wasn¿t sure what I was going
When I first picked up this book, I wasn’t sure what I was going to think. Though I love Trisha Wolfe’s writing and I feel in love with Astarte’s Wrath (Kythan Guardians #0.5), Destiny’s Fire was based on a slightly younger YA audience compared to her latest releases. Then there was the steampunk theme, which for a futuristic outlook I wasn’t sure how I was going to react. And it was also her first debut book. So honestly, I totally didn’t know what to expect. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Fortunately, I wasn’t disappointed!
Yes, Astarte’s Wrath is a bit faster paced and more intense and I like the stronger Egyptian theme to it, but Destiny’s Fire (Kythan Guardians #1) was amazing YA novel to read! Seriously! I fell in love with pretty much everything, even the steampunk. And all the characters, especially Dez, were awesome. Not exactly as kick ass as Trisha Wolfe’s other characters, but Dez was definitely strong in so many other ways. I particularly loved her courage and how much she cared for her friends.
However, I wasn’t really a major fan of the love triangle between Reese, Jace, and Dez. It was so obvious Reese was the one—sorry, Jace fans. He and Dez were more alike in so many ways, and he was a mystery. I mean, I totally knew Reese was hiding something from the start—I just didn’t realize what it was until the very last moment. Okay, I fell for him, hard!
The only let down, really, is that there isn’t a sequel to jump right into. I would love to see the prophecy fulfilled and I want to read more!

Chapter by Chapter's Review of Destiny's Fire
I honestly, loved this book so much! I felt like it ended all too soon…I couldn’t stop reading. I instantly fell in love with the world that Trish Wolfe has created in Destiny’s Fire… a Paranormal Steampunk love story with a Romeo & Juliet-esque feel. Have I hooked you yet?Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
I absolutely loved the way Destiny’s Fire starts. Seriously, who isn’t a fan of being instantly thrown into a fight? First reaction…Oooo! What’s going on? And from there, to meet your first crush of the book, Jace. After getting used to the different terminology used, like Narcolym (aka Narco), Kythan, Schythe, etc., the book is just an action packed adventure! The first chapter? Oh my gosh, what a great first chapter. It does exactly what I hoped it would: grip and captivate me from the get go, with action, romantic innuendos, and a promising storyline. With characters like Jace, Nick, Lana, Reese, and Dez, who are funny and whom readers will easily relate to, who can’t help but get lost in this book!
The one thing with this book that was frustrating was…who do I like more? Jace – the dependable constant in Dez’s life who would throw away his own life just to protect her, or Reese – the sexy, bad boy with his “shadowhunter” type attitude, and who (apparently) is a really great kisser. I was jumping back and forth throughout the entire book. I like Jace…no I like Reese…no wait, Jace did this so he’s obviously the better choice…but ohhhh did Reese really just do that? It was so fun!
Wolfe’s writing style is so addictive. I don’t remember there being a lull at all in Destiny’s Fire. I felt as though I had to constantly read it. I didn’t want to put it down, and when I did have to…I was thinking of it. What is going to happen next? Who is Dez going to pick? What is the deal with Reese? What is up with Jace?
This story will keep you guessing. Once I thought I had it all figured out, something MAJOR happens, and then you’re back to square one trying to figure what is going to happen next. What possible angle can Wolfe twist this story? How many different plot twists can she come up with? Such a great writer!
Right to the very end, I had my nose glued to the book. I devoured it. I needed to know what was going to happen, like NOW. I truly hope that there will be a second book coming…soon. I am in love with all of these characters, and with this world.
I’ve been searching for a book that will truly grip me to the core, and have me yearning to read more. (hmmm…that was kind of a poem).
Destiny’s Fire…I smell a true hit here! Have you grabbed your copy yet? Decide who’s team you’re on…

This is the first steampunk novel I've read and wow, just wow. I
This is the first steampunk novel I've read and wow, just wow. I'm totally a fan of the genre now! It takes a talented author to introduce so many characters with big roles in a novel and have each of them be compelling, and Trisha accomplished that beautifully. I felt for each of these characters and was pulled into the wonder of the story from the very first page. Magic, secrets, cool devices, and a world I didn't want to leave, Destiny's Fire has it all.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. A book you won't soon forget
Destiny's FIre is the kind of book you can get lost in. There's a sweet love triangle between one of the good guys and bad. I had my heart all set on one as the story began but as I continued reading there was a gradual shift. I had completely switched boys, which is saying a lot for me considering I am very loyal to what team I am on.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I like the fact that this book pushes the boundaries. Not to say its inappropriate, just that most steamy scenes under YA are often dismissed to quickly. You can tell the scene isn't going to go much further. This book had me blushing and squealing in the best way without getting icky.
Not only is the romance enticing, even the plot is lively. Trisha takes you into a completely different world, where your entire existence might just lead to the corruption of the town. Dez is the kind of character you want to stick around with and learn more about.
Anyone who is a fan of intense romances and in need of a fresh new fantasy book should read Destiny's Fire!

Steampunk genres are a little hard for me to relate to. Not having read very many, they are sometimes hard for me to get into reading. But not Destiny’s Fire, oh no, I was hooked from the get go. Dez and her friends are out to figure out why the people they were raised to hate and defend themselves against are being allowed into their haven and their school. Why would the Council allow this to happen? What good will come from all of it? And most of all...why is Dez falling for one of them? Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. There is so much goodness flowing through this book. Yes, there is a love triangle and I know lots of people hate triangles but this one is very tolerable. I personally have no problems with triangles as long as the person I want to win wins. Ok, moving on. Like I said there is a love triangle, hot romance scenes, lots of fighting/action happening and it’s all rolled into one amazing, yummy storyline. And there are tons of epic twists and turns throughout the book. The guys are quite scrumptious too. I for one am Team Reese. I thought I would be leaning more towards Jace at the first, but as things developed, I was la la loving Reese.
Trisha Wolfe wrote a fabulous story full of strong characters, a unique plot and one heck of an ending. Destiny’s Fire’s awesomeness will linger in the back of your mind long after you finish the book. Most definitely will have this book on my reread list!

A must read
My Summary:Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Dez has a secret. Her secret can't be shared with her best friend Jace or the Narolym, an enemy race of shape-shifters. But when her own Council lowers the barrier that protects her Shythe haven, Dez is suddenly facing more problems than protecting her secret. And as Dez is forced to confront her own shape-shifting abilities, she must choose between protecting her secret and trusting a Narolym that could change everything. Even as Dez finds out why the Narolym really came to her protected home, she discovers that her choices may be the only thing left to protect her people from war. That choice seems sure to risk the very one she loves the most.
5 stars - a must read
Destiny's Fire is only the second SteamPunk book I've read. I really wasn't sure what to expect since I don't have a lot of experience reading this genre. Let me just say that if they're like this book, sign me up to read a lot more.
I was quickly pulled into the world of the shape-shifting guardians, descended from those that protected the Egyptian pharaohs. This wasn't just another shifter book with the same old lure, no this book shifts into charge and flame powered action so different from other shifter books that I was hanging onto the pages as they flipped quickly by. Grounded solidly in a future world that seems familiar but then add gadgets, corsets, hovercraft, and charged weapons - I couldn't get enough.
Dez is a fabulously strong female lead. I liked her right away. She struggled and worried about protecting her mom and her secret but she has an inner strength that steers her right. And as she faces challenges and surprises, she grows. I like that about a character. They need to become more over the course of book or I just don't care about them. I was quickly Team Jace as I got to know one of the gorgeous triplets. But Reese did a number on my heart. How can anyone choose between these two incredible guys? Don't know who I feel more for - Dez for having to pick or the one that doesn't get picked? Needless to say I was very attached to the characters in this book.
The plot was fast paced, action packed and had me shocked on more than one occasion. I easily would have finished this book in one setting if it hadn't been for needed to go to bed so I could work the next day. The ending of this story didn't have me throwing the book - no I'm satisfied but looking forward to book two. When was the last time I could say that? It's been a while. =)
If you read YA, then this one is a must read! Trish weaves a bold, powerful tale that I won't soon be forgetting.

great steampunk YA!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's YA/steampunk goodness to the core. There is a love triangle, but it doesn't work the way you think it will...and I was unsure how it was going to go up until the very end! So hard to pick a team! (no but srsly Team Reese) (heh)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
The dialogue is solid, very funny and authentic. The world the Kythan live in is realistic yet tinged with the steampunk/paranormal, which is so fun and cool to get into. Highly recommended. Get into this at the beginning, because this could become an amazing series, Hunger Games style!

An excellent debut and a fun read!
DESTINY'S FIRE tells the story of Dez Harkly, a shape-shifting descendant to the Egyptian secret service. She's spunky, tough, loveable--all the qualities one needs in a kick-butt heroine! From the very beginning, I fell in love with Dez and rooted for her right up to the very end.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I'm not going to go into too much detail for fear of spoiling this awesomely fun read for others, but trust me when I say DESTINY'S FIRE has it all: an exciting, well-paced plot that moves with the right amount of action; well-rounded characters that jump from the page with distinct voices; and enough steam-inducing romance to melt glaciers. Seriously! Though the plot was so fun and addictive, it was the romance that hooked me and reeled me in--and makes me wanna jump inside Trisha's head to get the rest of the story. (One word: Reese!) (Okay, two words: Jace!)
Overall, DESTINY'S FIRE is a fantastic read that keeps you hooked from beginning to end, and I couldn't be happier to give it 5 Stars. I urge each of you to pick up a copy today and fall into the magical world Trisha Wolfe has created!!

In a nutshell, DESTINY'S FIRE made me hate Trisha Wolfe. I'm talking SERIOUS hate--like fuming, loathing, hair-ripping hatred that leads to chainsaws and lighter fluid. Basically, this book made me realize how far I have to go before I pen a book as brilliant as DESTINY'S FIRE. Hence the hate. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. On the reals: I loved the main character, Dez, and her struggle to find her place in a chaotic, turbulent world. The book's steamy scenes are hot enough to make the Sahara shiver, and the writing is brilliant and beautiful. I won't give too much away, but I will say this--keep an eye on Trisha Wolfe, because she'll soon be a household name for any YA enthusiast!
