There are some times when writers fall back on annoying habits that distract from the story. Generally I am pretty forgiving and can just move on to the next book. In "Devil's Bride" the author constantly made reference to Honoria's 'willful'/'uplifted'/'angled'/'proud'/' etc CHIN!!! I bet it was used as a description of Honoria at least 10 times per chapter.
Even as I type this I cannot believe how much I let it irritate me but it did.

The who-dun-it was made obvious early in the book. The sex scenes were overwrought and ridiculous. The writing felt lazy and wordy.

Positive:
I like the idea of the Cynster men and I enjoyed the interaction between Honoria and the twins as well as with Louise and some of the other secondary characters. I thought Chillingsworth was a good secondary character as well especially the encounter between Honoria and Chillingsworth towards the end of the book.

A friend recommended this author to me so I will definitely try another book of Ms. Laurens based on how well this friend likes her books.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Cynsters

I loved this book. It was a great introduction to the wonderful Cynster family. The bad guy was easy to guess, but I loved it anyway.

    Engaging

I liked the plot and character development, but would hav preferred less explicit sex to be a little less explicit.

    Great story

Loved the characters - they are feisty, and possessive, and intense, and made me want to keep reading. The Cynster men are really something. I'm on book 4 of this series, and this was one of my favorites!

    Entertaining

I read a recently published book about the Cynster family and liked it enough to want to start at the beginning with this book. I found this book to be just as entertaining as the latest by this author. It was nice to go back to the beginning and see Devil struggle with the ups and downs of a relationship. I can't wait to read the next one!

    liked it

i got this book from my cousin who enjoys reading from this same time frame as i do. i liked the story and the hero/heroine however, i was disappointed that i was able to figure out who the bad guy was almost immediately. would have liked it better if she would have focused attention on someone else (or at least make me think that) that being said i do plan to read the other books in the series

    I Liked This Book

I decided to buy this book because I red the review onthis iste and I love romantic series. Although some parts of the book flew over my head and some scenarios were repetitive, I still enjoyed it. I liked the fact that Ms. Laurens took the time to flesh out her characters. This fact and the sex scenes were a treat. I'd recommend it to anyone.
