Die Trying was an incredible book. One of my favorite Lee Child books so far. I have read most of his books but I especially liked the theme that he used for this book. It starts out in typical Lee Child fashion when Jack Reacher finds himself swept into some kind of mischeif. In this book though the bad guys are a malitia group that want to turn the state of Montana into their own country. As always Lee Child adds lots of action and twists and turns. Who can he trust? One particularly tense part of the book involved crawling through a small tunnel in the middle of a mountain with a small flashlight that of course dies so that he is left in the dark and the tunnel narrows till he is stuck! Great book and I highly recommend it!!

why do ebooks of old books cost more than peperback versions

this is seriously offensive. i really wanted to put the Reacher books in elibrary, but I don't really appreciate being treated like asucker.

Not as good as his other books

It was an excellent story with a great pace for the first three quarters of the book. I felt the last quarter was ok and definitely not as good as Lee Child's other books. I would have given it 2.5 stars but could not select half stars

    Good read

Considering this is Child's earlier work the story read well. There were a couple of spots that didn't flow all that well but the story was coherent throughout if not down right fun to read. Child has the main character go into too much detail in a few places in the story that seem out of place with the surrounding storyline. I'm not a detail type of person so I had to slog through.

I've purchased the third book in the series because I enjoyed how Child has put everything together in the first and second. I'm also looking forward to seeing Child's writing progress with the next book.

    RECOMMEND

I started reading Jack Reacher as the character seemed very interesting and I was looking for books in the Stone Barrington, Harry Bosch, Elvis Cole and Mitch Rapp vain, all of which I love. I like the character very much and have read the first three of his books.
But, I find the writing too elaborative. I think it goes polar opposite of James Patterson who provides little in the way of descriptive writing (but I still enjoy and read), to too much descriptions which I find take away from the storyline and action. I will continue to read these books as I have said I do enjoy the character and the story lines.

    not bad

I liked the book but there were parts where it was a bit of information overload. Just too many details about a weapon or the area that Reacher found himself in... I'd skip ahead past that & the story would pick up again. All in all, a good read, just slow in parts.

Not as good as Killing Floor

I really enjoyed Lee Child's first Jack Reacher novel Killing Floor. I read this book shortly after finishing that book and I was disappointed. I didn't like how it keep jumping from character to character. I really hope that the rest of his Jack Reacher novel's aren't like this one.
