    DIE 4 ME

I think the idea of a review is to let others interested in reading the book, know what you liked or didn't like about the book. This was my first Karen Rose book so had no preconceived ideas. After the first chapter I wasn't sure I wanted to continue as I definitely do not like scenarios of torture. However, I continued and found with the way KR writes I could skim the descriptions of torture and finish the book. I liked the way KR divides into sections of place, date and time and changes characters so it was easy to skim or even skip some of the more graphic details of our serial killer. I think KR is a talented writer who really keeps the story moving. Even though it's a thriller with some romance thrown in, there is also enough humor and family values with Vito's family to lighten it somewhat. I think I enjoyed Sophie's character because yes, she's a very independent woman who's very bright but yet not so independent that she could accept protection when warranted. I thought she handled herself well after being taken by the serial killer. (well that was a given wasn't it?) She did certainly help herself but yet the author has the (her) cop complete the final rescue. (So many authors have the heroine not need anyone and takes the villan out herself-yeah right). I just felt it was an interesting book that moved along and very well rounded story. Even the ending which builds to a sequel doesn't disappoint because the main characters have closure. If you can handle some graphic scenes, the story itself is pretty interesting. I just started the sequel so hope it's as good.

    GREAT READ

I could hardly put this down... I have read all of KR's books leading up to this one and can definitely say I have not been disappointed by any of them. For background on Vito, make sure you read 'You Can't Hide'.

    Do not miss this series!

Karen Rose writes a romantic thriller like no one else! Compelling characters and perfect plots, lots of hot! This is the 1st book in the Vartanian series and Ms. Rose's villan is diabolical and her lovers should be considered classic. A great read!

    Chilling...

I loved this book! Karen Rose has a way of writing that captures you instantly. Each page made me want to turn and see what the next had to offer. Along with suspense, she adds subtle romance. In this book, I fell in love with the main characters and found myself wanting them to be together the more I read. If you like murder/mystery and romance all put in 1 book, this is the perfect book to read.

    Would have given 4 stars....

...but I bought this thinking I was getting 'romantic' suspense. Now had I been wanting just a good thriller or suspense I would've given 4 stars. When I read romantic suspense I want my romance on equal footing with the suspense...this was not. The other reason this book didn't do it for me was that are way too many characters in this book and it's a little hard to keep up with. This was my first Karen Rose and it won't be my last, but next time I pick up one of her books I'll do it when I'm in the mood for a thriller or suspense novel not when I'm in the mood for romance.

    Fabulous

This is my third Karen Rose novel and I must say I certainly enjoy her books. In Die for Me, we meet Sophie Johannsen, an archeologist working in a museum in Philadelphia. Sophie has made mistakes in her past and is reluctant to get involved with anyone. Nick Ciccotelli is a cop called to a murder scene where a matrix of gravesites is discovered. Sophie is asked to come in as a consultant and use her special equipment to help determine if all of the dug graves contain bodies. In the course of the investigation, Sophie and Nick become involved. This book contained romance, chills, and a wonderful family background for Sophie and Nick both which made for wonderful secondary characters. The romance did not overpower the plot but became part of the plot and allowed for a wonderful suspenseful book. I highly recommend this book.

    Die For Me Is Chilling

Karen Rose has written another gripping tale in Die For Me. Detective Vito Ciccotelli realizes the murder he and his partner Nick Lawrence are investigating is more complex then they first thought. Vito enlists local archaeologist Sophie Johannsen to help with the massive search for graves. Sophie Johannsen is working as head curator at the Albright Museum. It's not the ideal job for her so when she is offered the chance to use her skills as an archaeologist she jumps at the opportunity. Finding massive graves is a shock to her system but finding herself attracted to the led detectives is a bigger surprise. As Sophie and Vito, along with his fellow officers race to stop a killer the danger turns towards Sophie. Vito will not lose another woman he loves to a killer so he will guard Sophie with his life. Die For Me is another compelling suspense story by Karen Rose. You can feel the killers every move and thought. It will chill you to your bone. Vito and Sophie command attention on every page, their chemistry is electric and as pulse pounding as the suspense in this book. The next book by this author can't come soon enough for me.

    Die for Me

DIE FOR ME is Rose at the top of her form. This intense story blends the lives of interesting characters, the police detective Vito and the archaeologist/linguist Sophie, in a fast-pased and engrossing mystery. Vito has a body buried in a snowy field on his hands. Sophie is brought in to use her expertise to determine if other bodies are present. While there, she is able to use her skills and unique knowledge to give the police more information. Together, Vito and Sophie are pulled into the web of a serial killer. Along the way, Rose weaves in interesting secondary characters and the fascinating world of computer game design into the plot. This is a not-to-be-missed Rose mystery, and is the first in a trilogy. Pick up your copy, and set aside a weekend to be thrilled, entertained and to get no sleep until you turn the last page.

    Die for Me

The modern world of computer games collides with medieval torture, throwing together police detective Vito Ciccotelli and archaeologist Sophie Johannsen. From a snowy Philadelphia field to a recreated dungeon, Vito and Sophie track a serial killer who is intent on making his victim provide him with the perfect scream. This fast-paced thriller packs in the best of suspense with the compelling relationship that develops between Sophie and Vito. Family obligations and professional goals collide for the main characters throughout, bringing them alive on the page and allowing for well-developed supporting characters. A riveting read from the first page, this page-turner will keep you up all night. Rose has done it again!

Vito's story is great, though kind of disturbing...Karen Rose's characters can definitely be a little...o.k., a lot...whacko! It took me a while to get into the book, but once I was in...WOW! I can't wait for the next one!

    terrific suspense thriller

In Philadelphia, Warren Keyes wakes up to the smell of disinfectant ammonia, his hands and feet tied up, and little light coming from a torch on the wall of what he believes is a cave. Panicking until he hears the voice of Ed Munch, who informs him to drink some water because he needs his throat wet when his prisoner begins screaming. --- Eight days later Police Detectives Vito Ciccotelli and Nick Lawrence lead the homicide investigation into what looks like a religious ritual murder of a Jane Doe found in a nearby field. Knowing they need special help as they dig for potentially other bodies, PPD brings in archeologist Sophie Johannsen, who realizes, as she sees the victims¿ remains, the culprit was torturing them with medieval inquisition gadgets. Vito admires Sophie's intelligence but also is attracted to her. Meanwhile the killings continue as the culprit seeks the perfect scream from death to make his next video game seem virtually real, but needs one more expendable person to be his warrior queen perhaps a brilliant medieval archeologist will do. --- From the opening killer sequence to the climax, DIE FOR ME is an exhilarating action-packed serial killer police procedural with a romantic subplot that feels a bit out of place although it adds to the tension as the murders turn personal for Vito. The story line is fast-paced and filled with twists in a deadly triangle as the killer sets up the final scream being the archeologist. Karen Rose provides another terrific suspense thriller. --- Harriet Klausner
