Good, But Not Her Best
I just finished this book and let me start out by saying that Kaye Gibbons is an extremely gifted writer. Having said that, I found the first few chapters a chore to read. I have never read such long sentences in my life. The letter that took up an entire chapter seemed so unlike Gibbons' usual writing style and, in my humble opinion, interrupted the flow of the book. I found this to be a very depressing book and I was glad to turn the last page. I do look forward to Gibbons' upcoming sequel to Ellen Foster and will keep reading all of her books.
