The Perfect Leave on the Shelf book.
This being my 3rd installment of the Lakeshore Chronicles, I find myself wondering why I continued reading! I cannot like Nina. She came across as someone who believes she is more entitled because she's "suffered." Her totally immature response to someone else's purchase of her dream was just juvenile and petty. She came up with more reasons to not move forward with her life even though she claimed that's what she wanted. I see Nina as someone who spends her life selfishly analyzing others' motives when her own reasoning seems questionable. And Daisy! Did she take a page from Nina's self-help book? Personally, I hope to never hear of Daisy and Nina again. And the only reason I'm reading the next book is because I've already bought it. Hope it's better.

Highly recommended. One of her best.
I enjoyed reading this book, as well as All of Susan Wiggs books. I hope that she continues with the Lakeshore Chronicles Series, as there always seems to be another character that she can write a story about.

Great Book & the Characters keep getting better
I like this series. I am noticing that by the end of the book, you already know who the next one is going to be about. I like this, but then some unpredictibility would be nice.

Again she makes the characters believeable & you find yourself wanting to live in Avalon. -

engaging characters
I wasn't sure I really liked Nina, but Greg is terrific. Eventually, Nina gets past her dream and lets real life win her over. When she does, I'm finally on her side.

Not again
I have read 3 Susan Wiggs books and all 3 had a teenager having a biracial out of wedlock baby. Makes me wonder about Susan Wiggs' personal life. However to glorify this kind of behavior is extremely immature and I'm sorry that she weaves this into her story lines. There will not be a 4th Susan Wiggs bought by me.

Another Winner!
The most recent in the Lakeside Chronicles was the story of Greg and Nina, both past and present. They'd loved each other subconsciously for most of the lives but it wasn't until Greg returned to Willow Lake after his divorce that they acted on it consciously. This was a very good book, with a sweet love story and I enjoy Susan Wiggs's writing. What I didn't like about this book was that their relationship was wrapped up in a few pages. And I've counted thus far in this series 4 unplanned, teenage pregnancies. Perhaps something is in the lake that makes them forget the existence of condoms and birth control? I've really enjoyed this series but I won't be reading 'Snowfall at Willow Lake' because I detest Sophie and the book is about her. If anyone could make an unlikable character likeable Susan Wiggs could but I'll still pass. I highly recommend Susan Wiggs 'The Ocean Between Us'.

Former mayor of Avalon, New York, single mom Nina Romano realizes her dream is close to being fulfilled. She needs to obtain a bank loan to restore and convert the historical Inn at Willow Lake into an upscale retreat. --- However, to her chagrin, she learns her long time rival Greg Bellamy has decided to do just that to his family owned historical Inn he begins the restoration. Divorced, Greg, the father of two including a pregnant teen, wants to hire Nina to manage the facility, but she refuses. As they continue an argument that they started twenty years ago when they were teens, the two continue to ignore the attraction they always felt, but feared pursuing. However, this time around they have teenage children and the inn to contend with besides their not so secret anymore feelings of love. --- Returning to the Lakeshore Chronicles (see SUMMER AT WILLOW LAKE and THE WINTER LODGE), Susan Wiggs writes an entertaining contemporary romance. The lead combatants battle their inner attraction that they hide from the other out of fear of ridicule and they assume from their offspring. The story line focuses on their second chance at a permanent relationship if either would take that gigantic fearful first step. --- Harriet Klausner
