It's not just for second graders.

I bought "Doodle All Year" as a gift for my grand-nephew who is in second grade. But, I confess, I sat down and read through the whole book myself, smiling and imagining myself completing some of the doodles. Then, I wondered what pictures my high school students would doodle and what they would write for the captions. So, I'm going to buy another copy of the book for myself. As my students read "Catcher in the Rye," I'll show them the page with "Uh-oh! Their ball is rolling down hill." Then, I'll pass out crayons and let them think about what Holden Caulfield wants to be, and I'll let 17-year-olds doodle. And when we read "The Gift of the Magi," we'll look at the page that invites us to "Draw a present that you'd like to get." And we'll doodle, and we'll do "show and tell" in English III. Some things we never out-grow.

    Doodle All Year

I got this for my eight year old daughter who loves to draw, and she LOVES this book! It teaches you how to draw a variety of things and she can't stop talking about how much fun she has had with it.

    Engaging activity book

Wow, what a fun book, for both kids of any age. My 7 year old cousin was as excited about the book and the open ended activities contained therein as was my wife and other family members. In this age of high tech entertainment, it is great to find one that relys almost solely on the imagination of the reader/artist. I understand there are other editions using a similar format, and I will definitely seek them out for our own library, and for gifts to others with the imagination to see the entertainment value in books like this. Age is no barrier to enjoying this book. Pass my crayons, please!
