    I Also Recommend:

    Definitely a Classic Noir.

Double Indemnity is a fantastic, crime fiction. The tale center around a clever, savvy insurance saleman Walter Huff, whose only intention from the starts was to renew a client Mr. Nirdlinger's policy Until he met his client's wife Mrs. Phyllis Nirdlinger after that the story plot spins into an intense ride that knocks you socks off. I finished this audio read in one day. It never loses your interest for a second. I would recommend anyone to this book, or listen to the audio book the narrator sounds great in each scene, character & situation.

James M. Cain was totally ahead oh his time during the 30's for creating femme fatale, hard boiling crimes considering twisted at that time.

    Double Indemnity Remains a Classic

One of the best Noir books I have read in a long time. This book holds up over time. Buy it. Read it.

    A classic

Double Indemnity is part of James Cain's classic hard-boiled triumvirate 'Mildred Pierce', 'The Postman Always Rings Twice', and 'Double Indemnity'. Cain was a pioneer of the genre who was shockingly controversial in the 30's. He fits right in today.

    Highly Recommended

James M. Cain is a powerful noir writer who is often overlooked. For extra fun read this book first then watch the classic movie starring Fred MacMurray. James Cain also wrote several other excellent books--two of which were made into excellent movies--Mildred Pierce and The Postman Always Rings twice.

    A classic noir

Terse, spare prose, hopeless complications, moral terpitude, just and satisfying conclusion.

    Classic Noir

If you enjoy noir, read it. It's that simple. The only drawbacks are that it's very similar to The Postman Always Rings Twice (if that's a drawback), and arguably of lesser quality.
