Miracle dog ! Miracle cat !
We followed the recommendations in this book to help cure a 10 year-old English Cocker of folliculitis (allergy to her own hair. Oozing sores all over) and shrink an abdominal sarcoma and lung sarcoma! She was also spilling protein into her urine at a high level. Now, there is no spilling of protein anymore at all and she acts like a puppy! The vet can't believe it! Has never seen anything like this before. Also, a 3 year-old Ragdoll cat had come down with severe liver failure for no known reason. She was a bright golden yellow (ears and skin) when I took her in to the vet. The vet said it didn't look good at best. Her lab values were 9 times over the high normal range for everything. Her x-ray showed a huge amount of water around the liver and a huge liver. I started to help her with the advice in the book. She couldn't eat on her own, so I syringe fed her, and just two short weeks later, there was barely any yellow left to her skin. She was eating gobs of food and bouncing all over the house again! The vet can't believe the lab results she now has in this short of a time. Thank you so very much, Dr. Pitcairn, for writing this book. It's never too late to try as long as there is a little life left and the little ones have the spirit in them to work with you.

Excellent and Informative!
I think this book is one of the best. I started making all the food for my dogs(two border collies) and have been doing this for about a year now. I use the receipes from this book. There are several so my girls don't get bored with their meals. It is great for almost all aspects of pet care and I recommend it highly.

Great Alternative Pet Care Starting Place
Dr. Pitcairn's book really helped me out. I adopted a Boston terrier rescue and he had a bunch of problems that I wanted to try healing the natural way instead of pumping him full of meds. This is also my first time owning a dog so it was extremely helpful in figuring things out that I had no clue about. I would say overall it's a great resource to have around and one that I refer to if I have any questions.

Helped my dog greatly!
Buy this book. My 8 year old golden retriever was having serious stomach problems. I had paid thousands of dollars over the past couple years for vet visits, IVs to rehydrate, wide spectrum antibiotics and tests that always came back negative. Finally, my golden became ill while we were in another state visiting friends. We went to the friend's vet who took an entirely different approach than any other vet I'd been to. He ran the standard tests and then began talking to me about a more natural diet for my dog and recommended this book. It was been a Godsend for myself and my pet. I fed my dog a popular brand of dog food, available at every supermarket in the country. Never again. I had no idea how bad most dog foods are for the animal. Now, I make recipes out of this book and my dog is back to feeling great. He hasn't been sick since he went on his new diet. He looks great and acts like a puppy again! I recommend this book to every pet owner I know!

A reviewer
Pitcairn's book has been in print for twenty years and sold hundreds of thousands of copies for a reason. Pitcairn writes in the voice of someone clearly passionate about his work, and as someone who's willing to learn. The book is clearly written and well set out, equally suitable for someone wanting to read up or as a quick reference guide. Taking in all the factors that affect your pets health, as well as considering some that affect our lives (environmental considerations, for example) Pitcairn's book should be a must have for every pet lover.

A Must Have!
Dr. Pitcairn's book was the most helpful natural health book for pets I have ever owned and read. It contains information a pet owner could not do without. I can now see why Dr. Pitcairn is the leading expert in this field. This is one book I highly recommend every pet owner to buy and read without a doubt.

Great for you and your dog!
My pug is finally eating right. He did poorly on the commercial foods I tried. Even the 'premium' dog foods. When I started using Dr. Pitcairn's book my pug had dull fur, cloudy eyes, low energy, and was constipated a lot. (This from the famous, let's call it, 'We-Is' dog food.) The shine is back in his coat and eyes and, when I take him outside to do his business, he just squats and goes and he's all done and ready to play. This book is not one of those exotic health food books. The recipes are easy to make and you can get the stuff at your grocery store. He includes plenty of substitutions so you can mix and match with what's available. And my dog gobbles it up -- which is unusual for a spoiled pug. And who really believes dogs don't need real food?!

Most Comprehensive Guide to Animal Health
This book can save your pet's life. It did mine! By proper supplementation and natural diet, instead of commercial products, both my 'Problem' animals have been cured! I spent countless $$$'s at several different vets, attempting to cure my two cats. One had an allegic skin condition, the other reaccuring bladder infections. I changed the diets of both animals, brewed up some vitamin packs, and used the natural remedies. Both animals are finally cured! This book is a 'MUST' have for the dog or cat owner. Loaded with valuable information, the book pays for itself with one ailment!

Natural Care Saved My Pet's Life!!!
A few years ago my Chow-SharPei, Bear, almost died following conventional treatment for heartworms. Our local conventional vet hadn't told us about the 'other test'-only a few dollars more, which could have detected them much sooner. I came across a holistic practitioners guide which led us to a homeopathic vet (I didn't know they existed!). A student of Dr. Pitcairn's, he sent us this book (now a *Bible* in our collection) to help educate us about our pets' (At the time we had a farm of five pets.) needs. Thanks to the doctor, Bear bounced back in three days. Thanks to the book, in three months, Bear had a new coat - red! vs. the old brown, which he had completely shed during his illness - and was leaping in the air for his supper like a puppy (He was five at the time)!!! The book has since helped with flea treatment and control, mites, and alternative chew bones (read it and see!) - and our experience recently helped save a friend's pet from heartworms! Also, an interesting side effect has taken place: Before the book, we were at the conventional vet's office every three weeks. After the book, only once a year for legally required rabies vaccinations (which we now follow with homeopathic antitoxins), then otherwise only for boarding if we cannot get a friend to pet-sit. Feeding our animals has also become much less expensive and far healthier at the same time! This book is the best investment you'll *ever* make in your life *and* your pet's...I've sworn by it for over five years now!!!

I cured my dog using this book
I bought this book because my dog had a skin problem. The dog had a biopsy which showed nothing. The ulcer came back in about 2 weeks. I put my dog on a natural diet found in the book and in a matter of weeks she was cured!

Just What the Dr. Ordered for your Pet!
Here is a vet who can tell you how to heal whatever your pet has got. No kidding. There's no 'take it to the vet' stuff. This doc has remedies that any person can do. My cat could not urinate. I rushed to the library and saw this book. It said to give my cat three doses of homeopathic medicine, which I myself believe in. Not only did my cat NOT die, but it greatly improved and was well within a day or so! Included in this book are receipes for making your own pet's meals, and how bad commercial foods are for them. This is the New Age Bible for Pets!! And not a moment too soon! Thank God for it. You will!
