This is he first story by Rush that I have read. It is a short story/novella prequel to the series. I really liked Rush's take on shapeshifters/angels. I normally am not a fan of the fallen angel story, but it worked for me. I liked how Archer's emotionless contrasted Lyra's fiery personality. I do wish that there was more time spent building their relationship. A lot of information was given on the world, plus the mystery with Lyra's brother, and that left little time to really build the relationship part of it. I wish it would have ended with a happy for now instead of bonded for life.
I received this book through NetGalley

Dragons, fallen angels and more grace the pages of this very short, very involved, sometimes very hot paranormal read! Mystery, mayhem and romance are compacted down to a quick read that introduces a cast of paranormal creatures that is huge and world that promises to be a very “hot” place to be.Was this review helpful? Dragon Rising by Jaime Rush book 0.6 in The Hidden series proves that good things can come in small packages, but pay attention! No, there won’t be a test, but you won’t want to miss one small detail as this fast-paced prequel novella rushes on. I cannot wait for book one, I’m ready, fire extinguisher in hand!
