Tanis and the gang continue on their adventures, adding a few new characters with Steel and Palin. The Irda begin to start tampering with a small egg-like item. Completely unaware what is hidden inside the grey-stone, they unleash a power so great even the enhanced magic of the Irda can't withstand it. Chaos, now released from his prison, begins to wreak havoc on Krynn. Tanis and his friends must now fight for the very survival of their world. Tas comes out in one of the major roles, while most of the other main characters sorta sank into the background, allowing new characters to emmerge and really shine forth. This book is an exciting finale to the Chronicles Epic. I give this book an A+. A stimulating read.

Where everything officially goes wrong. I loved the first two series by hickman and weis. Unfortunately this is where the world of Krynn takes a turn for the worst. I just finished the war of souls trilogy and was so disappointed that I felt it was neccessary to let other fans to stop before its too late. This book is not horrible, but it is not worth your time. Think of it this way TAS WILL BECOME AN ANNOYANCE AND THE GODS WILL NO LONGER MAKE YOUR SPINE TINGLE WHEN YOU READ ABOUT THEM. The magic is gone for me lets hope the same doesnt happen for you. As always the authors get a little long winded, but here there is no reward

    NOT up to Dragonlance standards

I struggled with this entire book. It felt like a goofy plot, terrible ending, and young Brightblade made me want to punch him in the nose most of the book. It just felt forced. Unless you're desperate for some Dragonlance - I'd leave this one alone

    HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of all books I have ever read, this is the worst I have EVER dreamed of having the disadvantage of reading. The characters where held true and for that I thank them. But how dare they ruin one of the last great fantasy epics of all time. I have not been so disappointed since I read the last of the Darksword trilogy. I expected more of Weis and Hickman. I grew up with these story and for years is was the common glue that kept me together. So many discussions and disagreements I had with my friends about these stories I never thought it would be desicrated in such a way. How could they take away all that was wonderful of the world of Krynn? Tanis..... How could they? To this day it makes my stomach turn. After reading this book, my friends and I decided that it would henceforth be named as 'the book that was never written', and have stopped reading the series due to our disappointment. Oh, we keep all the books that came before this tome of evil in the shrine-like ambiance they deserve. But.. if you have any love for Krynn, Raistlin, Tanis, Tas, Laurana, and all the rest, spare yourself and do not submit youself to this.
