True story of the companions of the lance yet to be discovered
This book was well written, but confusing at times. One of the main reasons for confusion was the contradictions to the original Dragonlance trilogy. One noticeable difference between this book and Soulforge was the role of Raistiln's teacher. In this book, the teacher's name is different, and he is regarded with high esteem. Another confusing point is the color of Raistlin's eyes. On one page they are as they appear after his test, yet about five pages later, his eyes become blue. However, for the reader willing to overlook these inconsistences, this is an excellent book.
