Nice if Brief Overview of the Greatest
A really thorough collection spanning Joni Mitchell's amazing and diverse body of work would require at least three CDs. But, for the uninitiated or the seasoned fan wanting a quicker overview, Dreamland hits the target. Not all of the hits or classics are here (Woodstock, Chelsea Morning, Raised on Robbery and A Case of You aren't included), but there are some gems that provide a glimpse of the scope of Mitchell's musical adventure (Dreamland, The Jungle Line, and, from the magnificent album "Hejira," Furry Sings the Blues). Also included are four late-career reinterpretations featuring the London Symphony Orchestra. Three of these four succeed, particularly the stunning Both Sides Now and Amelia. Mitchell fans will no doubt debate some of the song choices, but with a large and diverse catalog to choose from, this is inevitable (and, by the way, all of these songs were NOT included on the earlier compilations "Hits" and "Misses.")Was this review helpful?
