Best 'gift' book
Dr. Landis who got nominated for an Academy Award for the fabulous and outrageous costumes in 'Coming to America' also was the Costume Designer of 'The Blues Brothers', 'Animal House' and 'Trading Places', to name a few. Her sense of movie history is incredible and her taste, divine. The book is filled with the interesting and eclectic, as well as some costume classics. Everyone has fun flipping through it and we've already had some fights in our family as to who gets to hold the book! It's a perfect gift at this time of year and a good deal as it's $75 in the stores. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I have to admit I've been waiting for this book to come out and I finally received my copy today. It does not disappoint! Most costume design books on the market focus on the glamorous Golden Age of Hollywood, but this one includes modern movies as well, going all the way up to 2006. Nearly 600 pages of movies and costume design. It seems well-researched 'even includes footnotes and a bibliography--unusual for a coffee table book', and the photographs are fantastic quality. I can't wait to hop under the heated blanket and dive in!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
