Drug Lords: The Rise and Fall of the Cali Cartel

I loved this book

My brother bought this book and I picked it up and could not put it down. I live in El Paso, TX which borders Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico and I recognized some of the characters because they are always on the news here. In Juarez there is a huge war and they kill about 9 people average a day, an unfortunately its not just a war in Mexico, its a war to see who controls the US market, so it also affects us Americans.

Love how he wrote the book as a novel

Impressive

What is it with the DEA and their love of the Colombians. I have never been impressed by th criminal abilities of the Colombians, whether they are from Medillin or Cali. The ones from Medillin just got lucky and the ones from Cali were in the shadows who were organizational geniuses, but relied too much on familial politics (like most Latino crime organization do.) There was not enough information about the explosion of crack cocaine and how they changed everything in crime and also they didn't discuss how the Cali Cartel became so sophisticated.
