As one of my best friends cousins is involved in a similar situation as the main characters in this novel, I became interested in reading more about life in such a setting. This story did that for me. The writes about what happens when a man finds out that the woman he married is nothing what he expected her to be. In great detail, every aspect of life, as well as antecedents were put on paper, that gave me a very sorrow feeling, as this could easily happen to any man.

I found the book to read like a journal or diary, in where the author takes you on a journey through the lifes of the characters. The author uses a writing style, including grammar, and choice of words. In descriptive language the reader is reliving the events that a "happily married couple" went through, while one of them was a prostitute queen.

This is a great story that provides a lot of inside into the world of being married to a prostitute, and the author has done a very good job of telling a true story of crime and deceit. Although some parts are long and more difficult to read, they are essential to understanding what is really happening. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in this field, or even suspects the wife from moon-lightening.

Boring

I bought this book cause it was only a dollar. The beginning, until about the middle was okay. Then it just dragged on until the story finally ended. Basically, what it comes down to is this guy was a desperate weasel who got burned. Dont waste your time or money.

I applaud Paul Goldman for sharing this personal tale of betrayal, fraud and scandal that turned his entire life upside down. Duplicity could easily be the ripped from the pages of heart stopping James Patterson novel but Mr. Goldman lived it. His story of not accepting being the victim when the one you devote your life to begins even before he knew he was just another mark. He shows how the fight in one man exposed a massive prostitution ring, tax fraud, federal aid fraud, and more layers of deceit. He married a woman that had made a career of coning men and trading sex for cash. His story of fighting the system and woman that was a master taking anything she wanted will have your turning pages and cheering him on at the same time. If you are a fan of Discovery ID and crime dramas you must read this, the real story of the real Madame that met her match in Paul Goldman.

What an incredible story! I didn’t think something like this could happen in this day and time.  It’s a twisted story of a deceptive wife, prostitutes, lies, theft and ruthlessness. Duplicity is a true story which makes it even more amazing. The author writes with passion, intensity and attention to detail. I really enjoyed the book, but it was very unsettling.

An eye opening story that really makes you stop and think. I had a friend of a friend who went through something similar when his girlfriend cleaned him out financially and ran enormous bills up on their credit card. Then a police mistake meant the women even got away unpunished! Anyway back to the story, very well written that unfolds into a rich literary tapestry that really draws you in and opens up into a seedy world of deception and criminality.

There were times when my jaw dropped at the sheer absurdity of this story. I could not believe the callousness of the wife, Audrey and her continual deception and theft. This book reads like a work of fiction and reminds the reader that, "Truth is stranger than fiction." Goldman masterfully weaves relationships, intrigue, and drama in a way that sucks the reader in to long nights of page turning reading. You can't help but feel sorry for the author and pray for his vindication and justice for his "wife" and pimp. This book should garner mention with other top works of non-fiction.

    very engaging story

It is so sad to read about what people do to each other. The author weaves his story like a spider web. He explains how he came to be in the position he found himself in with a con artist. This story really drew me in and I found myself rooting for the author throughout the book and hoping that he would find justice and peace by the end.

The author went through so much and I felt like he wrote this story to share his experiences with others and hopes that his readers will learn from those experiences. He writes about these experiences in depth to help the reader understand how these events happened. I am happy that eventually his ex faced consequences for her actions and I hope that the author is doing well now.

I have read LOTS of true crime and most of it is very poorly written. This book is an EXCELLENT read! Great depth to characters, very well written.
This author hits the mark. I look forward to further books from Paul Goldman

    Did not like it

Read it against my better judgement due to rave reader reviews. This fellow is an idiot. The whole book tells us how stupid he is and he constantly tries to rationalize why he is not.
