This is a quick and MUST HAVE read
My favorite genre of books is supernatural thrillers. I love Susan's attention to detail because it helps me to "see" the story. She brings a breath of fresh air into this writing style as Dust lacks the gore often associated with these thrillers, but she does NOT skimp on the suspense!!

Highly Recommended!!
This was a very enjoyable quick read that is a mystery/thriller..The main character Karen sees colored particles of dust and the story revolves around the "accidents" happening to people by this dust..She gets her ex-husband to help her find a way to get rid of this dust..Truly enjoyed from beginning to end..

LOVED IT!!!
I truly enjoyed this book! I felt as if I knew the main characters! In someone's review they made a comment "who cares what kind of car they drive", I do actually, I found Susan to be very descriptive and I LOVE that, it makes the story more real to me and I am able to "picture" it better! I could not put this book down, with two small children I had to, haha. I didn't finish the book with any questions, which I love. I just finished a book prior to Dust and had so many questions when I finished! I think this story would make a great movie! Great job Susan!!!!

A Great Read!
Dust picks up up and takes you on a whirlwind ride, pun intended, and doesn't let you go until the final climax. The characters and settings are believable and the bantering between Karen and Jerry makes you forget these are fictional characters and makes you root for them in their quest to find the dust's weakness. There's no big science words that many sci fi books I've read in the past have, although Susan Berliner had the opportunity during a scene with one of Karen's neighbors. It's a great piece of escapist fiction and a book to easily get lost in. I recommend it to anyone on the fence and reading this.

new author
I was able to read this book in its entirety within just a few hours, which added to its cinematic qualities; it was like watching a movie in the afternoon, only to notice the sky is dark when you come out of the theater. The book is fast-paced, and does not dwell on technical jargon in order to explain the paranormal events or the entity, which I found refreshing. Instead, it focuses on the relationships between characters, which also significantly contributes to character development without wasting any time, so that you relate to them, and consequently feel for them. Considering the abrupt time frame allotted to most characters presented, and the number of characters introduced - this is quite a feat! The language in the book is relatively simple and casual, easy to read, and doesn't contain much in the way of profanity, so it can be enjoyed by a wide age-group spectrum, versus other paranormal or sci-fi novels I have read that seem to appeal to a particular type of reader. A sense of humor is ever-present in the background and comes out at just the right times, and that provides and excellent balance to the experience of reading a thriller of any kind. I have quickly become a fan of this author, and look forward to her next work.

Be prepared to be swept right into this book!
Once I started reading "Dust", I couldn't put the book down and I finished it in 2 days. It was a quick and enjoyable read that still has me looking over my shoulder for a dust cloud in my house. Sometimes I hear things fall and have to just wonder..what caused that to fall? I love a book that grabs my attention in the first few pages and "Dust" did just that, swept me right into a good read! I can't wait to see what Susan Berliner comes up with next

Fun quick read!
I really enjoyed this book. It is a fun, easy and quick read. The plot is not so convoluted that you can't follow it. I thought the character and plot development were so good that I didn't want to put the book down. I finished it quickly, and am anxiously awaiting the next book by Susan Berliner.

meh
I was excited to read something billed as "suburban fantasy"- I love urban fantasy so I was expecting something Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque- butt kicking and shopping malls. My bad. The whole thing was just plain hokey- like a community college creative writing attempt. The characters were pretty one-dimensional, the dialogue was unbelievable, and the exposition was... weird. Like, why do we need to know what kind of car everyone drives? I don't care how small of a community this was set in- no local daily paper is going to publish the kind of articles Karen used to "research" the dust. I'm all about suspension of disbelief- I read books about vampires ans werewolves, for Pete's sake- but there needs to be careful world-building done to give the story a sense of credibility. There was none. Sorry, but not my cuppa.

LOVED "DUST"
For me this was definitely a page turner, endearing characters, only drawback/comlpaint is that when it was over, I wasn't ready to say goodbye. Loved It, Loved It, Loved It! I can't wait to read her next book. Mucho Kudos, Susan!

PAGE TURNER
I just finished DUST and couldn't put it down. I found myself wondering if the dust would find its way into my bedroom. :) The suspense kept building from the first page on. Also, Karen and Jerry were very likeable and believable characters. Wow, that dust was evil! Well-written and exciting!

Bridget's Review
When Karen sees some different colored dust, she notices that its following her into her home. The dust picks up a porcelain ballerina doll and smashes it onto the floor. As if that wasn't weird enough, the next day Karen hears her neighbors dog barking nonstop. When she goes to find out if something is wrong, she finds her neighbor laying at the bottom of the steps. When Karen looks up, she notices the same dust. After these incidents, she tries to figure out how to stop sadistic dust from wreaking more havoc.
This is an entertaining book that is not your typical supernatural book. Susan is a talented story-teller who has a very unique style that is unlike anything I've ever read before.0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Dust
"Dust" by Susan Berliner is an entertaining story of a sinister dust whirl wreaking havoc (and a few deaths) in a small community This colorful dust storm (shades of green, blue and red particles) likes to hurt unsuspecting individuals, and nobody believes Karen McKay when she points out this fact. It is up to her to try and stop the dust from harming more of her neighbors. This novel is a fast paced and pleasurable read.
