Take e-myth to a deeper level
This book is about the primary disciplines in a world class company, not about the personal habits of effective leaders (see Covey for that). Part teaching, part workbook, it draws on decades of reflection since e-myth was first published. I found Gerber's examples insightful and inspiring, especially the section on Passion, Purpose, and Practice. Gerber brilliantly uses the parallel of his 3-hour saxophone practices to illustrate the true ¿practice¿ of entrepreneurship. In addition, the story of the struggles and triumphs in the early years of e-myth cannot help but instill respect for financial controls and admiration for the Gerber¿s personal integrity.

This was so annoying to listen to which was very dissapointing because I loved his first E-Myth Revisited which I highly recommend reading. He reads with WAY to much enthusiasm which gets very old after hour 2 and even when he's reading a sentance like, 'I took Sara by the hand and we sat down and just stared at the ground for a minute, in silence.' That would be read like it's the climax of the book with so much energy it's rediculous. He also uses 'Sara's' first name over and over while he talks to her. How often to you adress someone by their first name during a long conversation with them? Every sentence includes her name and you feel like that's all you hear, example, 'I know what you're feeling, Sara. Sara, you need to look at you company like this, Sara.' That would be awkward when really having a conversation. THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS READ OR LISTEN TO STEVEN COVEY'S 7-HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE INSTEAD OF THIS BOOK. I think this was Gerber's attempt at his own version of one of the most successful business books of all time, but he doesn't come close. Notice how he even has '7 essential skills' in the title. What's significant about 7? Nothing, just that it's been a great book by Covey. Get Covey's book in combo with Gerber's E-Myth Revisited. That is a very good and powerful combination for biz success.

Great Business Book!
I really thought this book helped me out with starting my own business. Another book I thought was very good in helping me succeed was 'The Wal-Mart Way' by Don Soderquist.
