I was pleasantly surprised by Eat Your Peas for Mom. I have not been a huge fan of gift books, but I fell in love with this little book and plan on giving a copy to my mom for Mother's Day. The quality of the book was outstanding, from the charming artwork to the high quality of the paper. As a mom myself, I read the book with a smile as its message was sweet and encouraging! It would be a blessing to moms with a Christian background or not. I would recommend this gift book as a great gift for all moms - new moms to moms that are now graced with the title of Great Grandma.

Mother's Day Is Coming!
If you're planning on buying your mother some fancy-schmancy card for Mother's Day, may I make a suggestion? Buy Eat Your Peas ~ For Mom by Cheryl Karpen instead. Personalize it for her -- I'll tell you how. Yes, it's a gift book. Yes, it's only a 3-minute read. And, yes, it's good. Eat Your Peas ~ For Mom is a gift book, with textured heavyweight pages and beautiful artwork by Sandy Fougner. The text is simple and heartfelt. Each two-page spread has text on the right, and plenty of white space (minimal artwork) on the left. This makes it ideal for personalizing with your own thoughts for your mother. For example, on the page that says, "Thank you for all the tears you wiped away, for kisses that made it better, and your smile that said it was safe to face the world again," I could add my own, "Thank you, Mom, for all those trips to Emergency Room, when I broke my arm (three times) and twisted my knee (once) and had bicycle accidents (at least twice)." On the page that says, "You have no idea how much you taught me when I was trying so hard not to learn," I could add, "All those 4-H cooking classes you taught have come in handy for me as I cook for a family our size." My own mother has Alzheimer's now. Do something special like this for your mom while you can... I got this book for free from Booksneeze, a bloggers book review program. This short little book is a way to tell Mom "thank you" for all the things she has done for you through your life and let her know you noticed and appreciate her today. I really enjoyed the added art in this book. It feels very fresh with the bright, cheerful colors. If you want to encourage your Mom, this would make a nice Mother's Day gift.
There are other books in the "Eat Your Peas" series as well if you would like to check those out.

A nice way to thank your mom

This is meant to be a quick read yet long thinking book. Each page has a short sentiment about motherhood, mostly from the point of the view of the child. The cover and artwork are feminine in a traditional style. The pages are like textured scrapbook paper and have a nice feel to them.
I did not care for the font used in the book. I tend to prefer a simpler font that is easier to read.
This book would be a very nice Mother's Day gift, or a birthday or even a just because gift for a mother or even a grandmother or favorite aunt.

Its 80 pages are filled with sweet sayings about motherhood, it's ups and down as well as how special moms are. Each page is also illustrated with homegrown feel images which bring you back to that feeling of being safe in mom's arms where the rest of the world seems so far away. Was this review helpful? This is the perfect gift to give your mom as a way to say "I love you" or "you mean a lot to me." I'd even suggest it as a Mother's Day present for that mom who has everything and you can't come up with a present idea. Like most gift books, it's an easy read and the average reader can whip through it in a few minutes.
If you're looking for a fun way to show your appreciation for that person who brought you into this world. Or even a mom seeking a bit of inspiration to make it through another trying day of parenting, this is a great book to motivate and confirm you're doing a good job by just doing your best. Aptly named after something most mothers say at one point, "Eat your peas," it's a daily dose of love and motherly cheer.

Eat Your Peas, Mom
This is a very cute book! I know it will be a great Mothers Day gift! When you are young your parents often make you mad over the smallest things. I know mine always told me I would understand when I had kids of my own. As much as you hate when your parents are right, they were. This cute little story is the perfect reminder of that, and lets mom know that you did listen to her advice and you truly love her. The illustrations give it the perfect home-made, hand crafted look that will melt Mom's heart. I would highly recommend this book for all the mothers out there! Was this review helpful? a timeless keeper!
big things do come in little packages. this book takes only about three minutes to read but its contents are timeless and can be read over and over again. not only is it a perfect gift for moms on Mother's Day but also for any occasion. the pages are beautifully illustrated by Sandy Fougner and i love the pastel colors she employed. they are pleasant and refreshing to the eyes and give you a homey feeling. the brief messages look handwritten and this gives everything a personal touch. the illustrations and missives combined cast me in a sentimental mood. author Cheryl Karpen has won my heart with her simple yet meaningful words. i actually had a good cry after i read it and how i wish my Mom were still here. if she were alive, i would have given her this little token to show my love, respect, admiration and gratitude for the mother and woman she was. Eat Your Peas, Mom Simple Truths and Happy Insights is definitely a keeper for me!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
