An exciting, heart pumping start to a new series

Life is all about second chances and taking the lessons learned and figuring out how to make you better. Zach Angelino has had second, third and fourth chances during the many life altering changes in his life and has built a life around guarding his heart and keeping secrets. But Zach though war torn and a little more than beat up is now being given the chance of a lifetime to correct the mistake he made when he walked away from Samantha Fairchild for one of his secret military missions. He told himself he was doing the right thing when he left but seeing her in the flesh again he realizes it was the one fear he could not conquer that made him run, losing what you love.

But Sammi is not so sure she wants Zach in her life even though right now she really needs him more than ever. She was a witness to a murder and now the killer is after her to tie up all the loose ends and the Boston police have marked her as a bad witness due to prior mistakes. Sammi best friend and Zach's twin sister Vivi has come up with a great idea to solve everyone's problem, she wants to start a security firm similar to her cousins' that does personal protection and investigation. Vivi decides their first case will be Sam and Zach can be the guard protecting her. No one likes the idea but quickly the entire extended family that Zach and Vivi grew up with are on board and Sam is overrun and outmaneuvered and getting way more protection than she asked for or wanted again in her life.

Zach tries to keep it professional but too soon he takes it personal and Sam has to decide if she is willing to run the risk of this hurt again. But before any major decisions can be achieved they have to find the person or persons trying to kill her, figure out who set all this mess into motion and stay alive which is getting more difficult by the minute.

Heartache and pain can take you down or make you grow and seeing how it not only made Sam and Zach grow as individuals is what a well written story is all about. Roxanne St. Claire has allot to live up to following her Bullet Chaser series but I believe this group of individuals that she has created in the new series will be up for the challenge. This particular story lays the ground work and does in with an amazing plot, twists and turns you don't see coming and main characters you are rooting for. I am grateful that Ms. St. Claire found her muse with this group it is going to be a great run.

    Bridget's Review

I can honestly say that this is one of the best murder mystery romance book I have read in a very, very long time. My heart was racing and there were times I forgot to breathe while reading. Roxanne has officially been added to my favorite authors list!

The opening Guardian Angelinos romantic suspense series is a great Massachusetts' thriller

At a restaurant she works at in the Boston area, Harvard law student Samantha Fairchild witnesses the assassination of journalist Joshua Sterling; the second time she saw a person kill another human. Her horrified face is caught on the security tape and the killer knows she saw him and is coming for her. The Boston Police Department refuse to protect Samantha because they hold her culpable for exposing a BPD scandal years ago though they hide their rejection (but not their contempt) behind bureaucratic garbage.

Desperate she turns to her friend investigative journalist Vivi Angelino whom she has avoided since an affair with her brother Zach ended with him rejecting her. Zach has recently returned from the combat zone, but bears physical and mental scars from his time over there. He is not the same person who left for the Middle East although his sister makes him open up a private investigative firm with her. Then Samantha enters the office; the woman who he will always love though he broke her heart.

The opening Guardian Angelinos romantic suspense series is a great Massachusetts' thriller. The story line is action-packed from the opening scene at the restaurant and never slows down as Roxanne St. Claire's fans anticipate two showdowns; one between the stalking killer and the lead couple and the other between the lead couple. As with her Bulletcatcher saga, Ms. St. Claire provides readers with a super tale.

Fantastic start to a great new series!

This is one heck of a start to what I believe will be ANOTHER phenomenal series by Roxanne St. Claire! I could not put this book down! I was absolutely hooked from page one. The suspenseful entertainment never dipped and kept me guessing until the very end, hence reading the entire book in an incredibly short amount of time. One of my favorite things about Miss St. Claire's writing is her ability to create such strong leading ladies. And of course, no one writes the kind of men we hope to fall into the arms of better than this writer! The emotion in this book can both bring you to tears and make you laugh. I am in love with the entire Angelino family, she did a really great job at introducing the family members and giving us just enough to be anxious as all get out waiting for more books in this series to debut! And Bullet Catcher fans, the subtle little referrals to characters from that series will give you an added chuckle. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel cover to cover and am confident you will too!

    Breathtakingly Raw

Roxanne St. Claire is a bestselling author of twenty-four novels of suspense and romance. In addition to being a four-time RITA nominee, her books have won the National Reader's Choice Award for best romantic suspense for two consecutive years, as well as the Daphne du Maurier Award, the HOLT Medallion, the Maggie, Booksellers Best, Book Buyers Best, several Awards of Excellence, the Aspen Gold and multiple Gayle Wilson Awards of Excellence. Roxanne holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Market Communications from UCLA and completed several post-graduate courses in Marketing Management at Harvard University. Prior to launching a full-time career as a novelist, Roxanne worked as a television actress and news reporter, appearing in Bosom Buddies and Laverne & Shirley, and hosting a regional news program in southern California. She then launched a career in public relations and marketing, including seven years as a Senior Vice President for Hill & Knowlton, one of the world's largest communications firms. Roxanne joined the Romance Writers of America in 2000, held a board position in her local chapter and is currently active in three chapters in her home state of Florida. Other titles include: Hunt Her Down, Make Her Pay, First You Run, Then You Hide, Now you Dies, and Hit Reply.

Harvard-bound law student Samantha Fairchild has just witnessed the murder of a Boston celebrity journalist, and now she's the assassin's next target. With nowhere else to go, Sam seeks help from her once best friend, Vivi. But the investigative reporter recruits her brother Zach Angelino to protect Sam. Despite the fact that they once shared a passionate affair that ended badly when he went to war, Zach takes the job. But Zach isn't the same person he was then. He's come back scarred and reclusive. But one thing hasn't changed... As they race for their lives in a hunt to gain the truth, the fire which once consumed them for three short months long ago quickly ignites again.

This is my first Roxanne St. Claire book, but it won't be my last. I love an author who can write with depth and emotion in a suspense, and make it seem plausible. This was witty, sexy, and breathtakingly raw. I especially love the secondary characters in Zach's family, and the setting in Boston was well-written and vivid. A definite must read!

She writes a sexy alpha hero so well and Zach (Zaccaria) Angelin

She writes a sexy alpha hero so well and Zach (Zaccaria) Angelino is a perfect example of her talent for conjuring up men who go far past appealing. (Drool Factor!) He is a former Army Ranger, "tall, broad, dark and...imposing" as she describes and he is part of a large Italian family. I like that she has made Zach both cocky and yet vulnerable too.

Amazing start to an amazing series!

    My Review:
Three years ago, Vivi and Samantha were best friends. Then Sam met Vivi's twin brother, Zach, and they embarked on a three week passionate affair where Sam fell hopelessly in love with Zach. The problem, Zach was an Army Ranger and he deployed without a single look phone calls, no letters, not even a postcard. Sam was devastated and the hurt and memories eventually destroyed her friendship with Vivi too.

A lot has changed in three years. Sam is on the verge of attending Harvard law and while working as a waitress, she witnesses a murder. Now, someone is trying to kill her. The cops don't care to protect her (something else that has happened in the last three years to change Sam's life.) She has no where else to turn, but to Vivi who is now an investigative reporter who might be able to help her find some answers. The problem with running to Vivi though is that Sam ends up right in Zach's arms and the three years haven't been kind to him either.

OMG, this book was good. Zach had his reasons for leaving Sam's life, but they are even more profound now as he has come back from war scarred, missing an eye, and lacking a focus for his life. He is floundering and as a reader, it is heartbreaking. These are obviously two people totally and completely still in love even after a three-year separation, but Zach doesn't think that he deserves Sam and Sam sure doesn't trust him with her heart. She made that mistake already and she is not willing to go through that heartbreak again.

I read a LOT of romantic suspense (probably my favorite genre) and as a result, read a lot of stories where the main characters have something to do with running a security firm. One of the things that I really love about this book is that the Guardian Angelinos (the security firm) is not established's simply a business idea from Vivi. As a result, these guys aren't pros. Yes, they are all alpha and completely capable, but not infallible, because they don't have the experience yet. I liked the realistic edge that provided. Instead of instinctively knowing where the bad guy is and how to attack (like you find in so many of these types of novels,) these guys have normal reactions. They are not inhuman in their skills...those skills are there, but they aren't honed yet for the security world. It was a fresh perspective that I really liked. It will be interesting to watch as the firm is formed.

There is a lot to recommend about this book.
*First and foremost, is the amazing romance between Sam & Zach. (If you want a taste of that, there is a free novella about their meeting three years before that you can read HERE.)
*The suspense is absolutely fabulous. The "villian" took me completely by surprise....I had no idea that was who it was going to be although all the signals were there after I thought it through.
*I absolutely ADORED Vivi....gotta love a skater chick...
*and the ENTIRE Angelino clan. There are 5 siblings (one former FBI agent- Marc, one deep undercover spook-don't know the agency yet- Gabe, one cop- JP, one psychologist- Nicki, and one computer geek- Chessie.) Then there are the twin cousins...Zach (who will be CEO of the firm) and Vivi who is an investigative reporter. How about that for an amazing team for a security firm? They are a super-close Italian family with the tensions AND love that go along with that.

I cannot wait to read all of their stories. It's going to be an incredible series!!!

A fantastic start to a new series

Edge Of Sight by Roxanne St. Claire delivers a pulse pounding story of suspense and romance.

Samantha Fairchild witnesses a murder of a local celebrity at the restaurant where she is working. Something is telling her that she is next on the killers list unless she gets help. Sam turns to her friend Vivi Angelino, an investigative reporter. Vivi know just who can protect Sam and also help her get to the truth. Vivi's brother Zach Angelino, a Special Forces vet is home and would be the perfect person to protect Sam. That is if Sam can let go of her and Zach's past.

Zach thought when he went off to fight that he was doing the best for Sam by dropping completely out of her life. But seeing Sam again has brought all those feelings and desires he thought he buried back to the forefront of his thoughts. Zach isn't convinced at first that he is the right man to protect Sam but once the danger keeps growing, he knows he will do anything to keep her safe.

As Sam and Zach get to know each other all over again, their passion is still as red hot as ever. Will they be able to put their past relationship behind and start anew? Or will the killer get to them first?

Edge of Sight will keep you on the edge of your seat with riveting suspense and sizzling passion. Zach and Sam both of scars that need to heal from their past. Their relationship grows and matures and you can't help routing for them to find their happy ending. I am looking forward to the next book in the Guardian Angelinos series.

    Everyone Needs a Guardian Angel(ino)

I don't know if Roxanne St. Clarie plans on writing any more books in her Bullet Catcher series (maybe they're just on temporary hiatus), but her new series featuring the men/women of the Rossi/Angelino families are sure to entice, excite and get your heart pounding if Edge of Sight is any indication. So au revoir Bullet Catchers and hello.Bring on the Guardian Angelinos. It's like a murder mystery dinner theatre gone bad at the upscale Boston restaurant Paupiette the night part-time waitress and future Harvard Law student Samantha Fairchild witnesses a murder for real. This game of Clue gone was the the wine cellar.with a gun. has a decidedly bad ending for Sam. Now she's become the #1 target on more than one person's hit list after it's discovered that her image - smile you're on Candid Camera - was caught on the security camera which the killer thoughtfully removed before leaving the scene of the crime. Tired of being alone, afraid and holed up in her apartment, Sam decides to call in reinforcements and contacts her good friend and reporter Vivi Angelino for help. Showing up under the cover of night at Vivi's apartment, Sam gets more than she bargained for when she has a run in with a blast from her past in the form of Vivi's twin brother and the stuff wet dreams are made of...Zaccaria Angelino. Doesn't that name conjure up a hot, spicy Italian dish? Yummy...I'll take an Angelino to go! Sam and Zach share a steamy past. Three non-stop hot, off the charts weeks of sex before Zach shipped out for active duty to Iraq (for the 411 on how this relationship began, check out the prequel, Taken to the Edge on Ms. St. Claire's website). It's been three years and in all that time, Sam has never heard from the Zach, not even a measly postcard. It's very obvious that what transpired between these two in the past is far, far from over. Zach's never forgotten the time he shared with his Sammi but he's not the same guy she knew. He's not only changed mentally, but physically. A close call with a mortar shell, almost cost him his life and did cost him an eye and left him with a disfiguring scar on his face. Dude's even sporting a black eye patch a la Captain Jack Sparrow. The last thing Zach wants is to take on the job of Sam's bodyguard, but deep down he knows there's no one else he can trust with her protection and safety. And Sam's going to need Zach on her side since the bad guys will stop at nothing including using friends and family to get at Samantha. Being around each other 24/7 and keeping their hands (and mouths) off each other is going to test even the strongest of wills. St. Claire writes the Rossi/Angelino family members as real, likable (well except maybe JP) characters that we come to know and care about and have a vested interest in their well-being while giving us just enough information to wet our appetite for future books in the series. She has a lot of characters to draw from as the Rossi family consists of 5 siblings (Gabe, Marc, JP, Nicki and Chessie) and then of course the 2 honorary members of the family, adopted cousins - twins Zach and Vivi Angelino. With twists and turns Edge of Sight is an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. Chills galore, taunt, gut wrenching action and a compelling story that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page is turned. What a fantastic beginning to what is sure to be a great new series from Roxanne St. Claire

    Price complaint

I don't like when readers use the review space to complain about the e-version pricing but now I find I must do the same thing. I have been looking forward to reading this new book by Roxanne St. Claire and wanted it for my Nook but why is the price higher than the paperback version? That seems to defeat a big draw of getting an e-book. I'll go to the bookstore and buy the paperback at the lower price. If this is a new trend then my Nook reading may decrease. (I'm giving this four stars because I don't want to take away from what looks like a terrific story with a complaint.)
