Excellent blending of historical fact with fictional characters
Excellent blending of historical fact with fictional characters and events. The protagonist's reflections on faith and personal truth are
handled well by the author. Some of the tenets of the Society of Jesus are revealed to readers who may know very little. The characters
are believable. The lead character, Charles, is believably portrayed with real depth. The authors grasp of history is convincing. Her
depiction of music, dance, drama, and rhetoric as central to French culture and Court life of that era are exceedingly well done. A good
good read; highly recommended.
