    Staggeringly Funny

    Employee of the Month is painfully funny. Stupid Texas Song is right on, putting it's honky tonky finger right on the pulse of the Texas zeitgeist. Hey Little Minivan feels my pain as a soccer mom. The Dogs, They Really Miss You is actually pretty sweet. But my favorites on this c.d. are Love in A Refrigerator Box, Leonard Cohen's Day Job, and The Other Shore. Love in a Refrigerator Box is purely maudlin, over-the-top silliness about making the best of starvation and homelessness. Leonard Cohen's Day Job is exactly what it sounds like. It's hilarious, and I'm a big Cohen fan too. I think that actually helps. But The Other Shore is purely wonderful.a heartfelt gospel tune about reuniting with our lost socks and other favorite brick a brack when we cross over from this earthly plane. The Austin Lounge Lizards are nothing short of geniuses, even the short members. I truly love this band and everything they do, and if you have a penchant for well-performed, snarky, politically and socially astute tunes, you'll like them too.
