Great read!

Escaping the Giant Wave was a nice quick read. I really enjoyed the descriptive details on what it was like to encounter an earthquake. The plot in the story was really nice and easy to follow, so much so that I really had trouble putting the book down. I recommend this book to someone who is looking for a realistic fiction story with a great journey. Escaping the Giant Wave is about a family who decides to go on a trip to the coast of Oregon. The main character Kyle, a sixth grade boy, runs into trouble at the very beginning of the story. He discovers that the school bully, Daren, and his family would be joining them on their vacation. This is just a small problem on the list of things that go wrong on his trip. If you are up for an adventure, and want to hear more about Kyle's vacation gone wrong, Escaping the Giant wave is the one for you.

Escaping the Giant Wave

This is going to be the best summer ever, or is it? In the book, Escaping the giant wave, thirteen year old Kyle is babysitting his sister Beebee on vacation. They were all alone in the hotel because their parents went on a yacht. They were going to have so much fun until they saw Kyle's bully, Daren, on the floor unconscious. Kyle's goal for vacation is to stand up for himself to Daren. Kyle and Beebee remembered the sign on the beach it said "Warning, tsunami"! Is there going to be a tsunami? Or is Kyle going to stand up for himself? Read the book to find out!
I connect to this book so much because I have bad days like that. For example, it rained on my soccer game so I couldn't play. Who wants to have a soccer gamed rained out? Not me!
The author Peg Kehrets has won twenty three children state book awards. Peg and her husband, Carl, lives in a log house on ten acres. When she is not writing, she reads, watches baseball, and plays piano.
I recommend this book to you because this is a very interesting book. Also it gets you all exited to know what's going to happen next. When you read this your never going to put the book down.

Definitely a favorite of mine!

This is the best book EVER! Peg Kehret describes everything perfectly and adds in so much dramatic scenes aside from the giant wave! It's so intense, I coudn't put in down! I read for 5 hours straight until i finished it! After that I read even more of her books. Read her other books too! Stranger Next door is my favorite!

Escaping the Giant Wave by Peg Kehret, is a phenomenal read. This book starts out by easing you into the story by introducing you to the characters. One of the character's names is Kyle; Kyle is Beebee's older brother. He is very wise for a thirteen and usually makes good decisions. He is a great babysitter and son for his parents. Another character's name is BeeBee; BeeBee is Kyle's younger, yet smarter sister. Once you've read this book you'll see she is a good listener when it comes to natural disasters. (I think most of us would be! Scary!!!) She loves math especially math that deals with financial subjects. A third main character in this book is Daren; Daren is a bully from the first part of this book to the end of the middle part. We find out halfway into the beginning of the story that not only is he picking on Kyle, but on BeeBee too. Towards the end of this book Kyle stands up to Daren and Daren is nice. A supporting character towards the end is a woman named Josie; Josie is Norm's adoring wife. Josie is supper nice and brave. She helps comfort and support Kyle and BeeBee during the first part of the tsunami. A final character is Norm; Norm is Josie's loving husband. Norm shares a dog named Pansy with his wife. Norm and even Pansy are helpful to Kyle and BeeBee during and after this disaster. One day Kyle and BeeBee's father comes home with great news. He says he has won an all expense paid vacation to thee Oregon Coast. When there one day, they decide to take a walk on the beach. While enjoying their walk the spot a sign that has instructions if a tsunami hits that area. Another night on their vacation Kyle and BeeBee's parents go on a cruise for their dad's business. While their parents are out at sea, Kyle and BeeBee overcome their first earthquake and tsunami. If this book were a true story, it would take place in the modern day at the Oregon Coast. The theme or lesson of this story is to stand up for yourself and others and when trouble comes stay calm and you will most likely be okay. I liked this story because I love the topic of natural disasters, and a tsunami is most definitely a natural disaster. I connected to this book by text to self because from when I was little to this day I loved the topic of natural disasters. (at least not happening to me) I also connected to this book by text to world because the world and this book have a lot in common; this book and the world both have bullies and tsunamis. p.s. I chose the Natural Disaster book because a tsunami is a natural disaster. I chose "the boy who dared" and "dairy of the wimpy kid" because there is a bully in both of those books and the bully in "Escaping the giant wave" is Daren.

this book has been my favorite for awhile. peg does such a good job describing the story. you wont want to put it down. you will want to keep readin until you find ot what happens!!!! i <33333333333 this book ssoooo muchh!! and you will to just trust me

AMAZING!!

This is one of my favorite books ever! I read it in fourth grade and again in sixth! I usually can't read a book more than once, but when i re-read this book i loved it just as much as the first time!

This is the BEST BOOK I HAVE EVERY READ! im not a big book person because i give up on books easily but i finished this book in 48 hours! No wonder it is a reward winning novel because everyone likes it !

This book Has 147 pages. The genre of this story is realistic fiction. This story takes place in the Oregon coast. Escaping the Giant wave is a great story. It¿s about Kyle who is thirteen years old and his eight year old sister Beebee. Kyle and his family are going on a vacation to the Oregon coast. While Bee bee and Kyle were left alone in a hotel. There was a earthquake. Kyle and bee bee have to fight there way through fire and smoke. Kyle remembers seeing a sign that said. ¿When ever a earth quake tsunamis can follow with in seconds so go as far up hill as possible.¿ So Kyle and Bee bee go to the top of the hill. They meat these elderly couple Norm and Josie they help bee bee and Kyle some of the way to escaping the giant wave. Can Kyle and beebee escape the giant wave or not? The main characters are Kyle and bee bee. My favorite part was when Kyle and bee bee had to fight there way through the smoke and fire. Because they saved Darren Hudson life even though there worst enemies. Darren was unconscious in the fire. I recommend this book because it is a great survival story it shows how brave Kyle was being for bee bee and himself.

Escaping the Giant Wave has 147 pages and the genre is nonfiction. This story is about a boy named Kyle and sister named Beebee. Their Mom and Dad work for a big real estate company that has a big meeting in Oregon. Kyle and his family went to the hotel and they where expected to have reservation but the hotel was full and the people that worked at the hotel sent them to an older hotel that is going to be knocked down soon. That night Kyle¿s mom and dad went on a business cruise for the night. Kyle needs to watch Beebee for the night. A giant earthquake hit and then a fire started. My favorite part of the story is when Kyle and Beebee go in the woods and ride out the wave. This is my favorite part because it is cool that a tsunami is right under them. I would recommend this book to people that like nonfiction.

I would like to recommend the book Escaping the Giant Wave by Peg Kehret. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. Escaping the Giant Wave takes place on the Oregon coast. This book tells a story about a 13 year old boy in 6th grade named Kyle and his 8 year old sister, BeeBee. Kyle thought that he would be going on their dream vacation when their dad wins salesman of the year. During their vacation an earthquake hits and sets their hotel on fire. Not short after the earthquake, a tsunami strikes. They have to run up hill to escape. My favorite part in this book is when Kyle and BeeBee were watching the tsunami hit. They are sitting with an elderly couple up hill so the tsunami won¿t hit them. The elderly couples names are Norm and Josie. There was a bench on the top of the hill they were on. Norm, Josie and BeeBee sat on the bench while Kyle sat on the grass. Josie put her arm around BeeBee, and BeeBee rested her head against her. I like this part because it shows how kind Josie is. After the tsunami hit Norm said ¿We can¿t stay here, we must go farther inland. Quickly!¿ I also like this part because it is suspenseful. You don¿t know if another wave is going to hit or not. When I was reading this book I felt like I was actually with Kyle and BeeBee running away from the tsunami. This is a great book. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. It is not a very long book. It is 147 pages long. You should definitely read Escaping the Giant Wave.

Escaping the Giant Wave

My Book Review My book review is about Escaping the Giant Wave, by Peg Kehret. This story takes place in Oregon. The main characters are John, Lily, and Jack. This story is about John that gets beaten up every day at school and he takes a vacation to Oregon, but he doesn¿t know that Jack is going too. The reason why John and Lily are going because there parents are on a business trip for their work. Then they find out that a 5 star hotel is open named the Elegant Impress. It was open until the earthquake hit! John and Lily¿s Parents were on a cruise ship for business paper work leaving John and Lily to survive. One of my favorite scenes was when John, Lily, and Jack were in the hotel when there was an earthquake. One of the other scenes was when there was a fire in the building and the kids were still inside. These are my favorite parts because they were the only 2 scenes that got my attention and surprised me. I would recommend this book because it is a good read, not to long, and doesn¿t have a lot of hard words.

The setting is In Oregon coast and I¿d have to say this is Realistic fiction. This book is about this kid named Kyle, one of the 3 main characters. He protects his little sister, Bee Bee, she is a girl with her doll, Bill anyway she is mostly into real estate and money. Now there¿s Daren the most important thing I need to tell you is that he smokes! The story is about Kyle and his ¿Summer Break¿ trip to Oregon Coast when they arrive they go to there hotel¿ and the rest is for you to find out. My favorite part is about when the fire starts, and bill is burned up. I am not trying to be mean but I just thought that when they got outta the house, the giant wave would start and that was my favorite part, I highly recommend this book because it is so suspense full and a way to do something if a tsunami would come also I just had to give this book a 5 out of 5

I highly recommend the book Escaping the Giant Wave by Peg Kehret. The genre is realistic fiction and it has 147 pages. The setting takes place in Oregon. The book tells the story about a brother and a sister named Kyle and BeeBee. Kyle is in the seventh grade and he is thirteen years old. BeeBee is only eight and she is very interested in stock marketing. This story is about how thirteen year old Kyle and his family go to Oregon for the dad¿s business trip. One night while their Mom and dad are on a cruise they leave Kyle alone in there hotel to baby-sit his younger sister BeeBee, and some bad things happen to them that are very frightening. One of my favorite sense is when Kyle and BeeBee realize there is a fire and have to escape from there hotel as fast as possible, so know one gets hurt. This scene makes me feel hopeful because if the kids are trying to escape the fire, they have a very high chance of getting burned and or hurt. The smoke from the fire could also possibly make it so that they cannot breathe and it could also close up their airways. From reading this book I know what it might have felt like to be in such a bad fire and having to escape it alone only with an eight year old sister and me. I love how the author describes the fire and the part where they have to get out of the fire as fast as they can. I feel like nothing in the story could be better. I think the book is just right for my reading level. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes realistic fiction.

The book that I read was called Escaping the Giant Wave by Peg Kehret, it was a great book about adventures and daring, risky things that people do. The setting of this book takes place at a old hotel in Oregon, and the Genre is realistic fiction with 147 pages in it. If you like a book with mystery, suspense, danger and adventure then I recommend this book to you. This book is about a 13 year old boy Kyle, with an 8 year old sister Bee Bee that are going on a vacation with there family, in Oregon. The dad and the mom are very hard working people that need to go down to Oregon to work on something very important. When they are there Kyle has to baby-sit his little sitter but of course the 6th grade bully Daren runs in to Kyle and his family while they are staying in the hotel. Kyle and Bee Bee are just trying to relax while they are home alone but, of course they run into so much trouble. Everything was dark in the hotel room. Even though it was dark, they could still sense like there was something wrong. Then they started notice that the air was very hard to breathe in, but they still didn¿t know what was going on. Then suddenly they realized that the room was filling with smoke! What is happening the 2 kids ask but no one is there to answer them? There are 4 main characters in this book and their names are Kyle, Bee Bee, the mom and the dad. They all have something in common, they love vacationing! First I will tell you a little something about Bee Bee, she is very smart and is obsessed with stop marketing. She loves sleeping with her stuffed animals and playing with them also! Next we have Kyle is have friends, he is smart, loves to travel, and loves adventure! Then we have the mom and the dad but we don¿t know much about them because all they do is work, work, and work! Then there is Daren he is the meanest kid ever and he is always picking on Kyle, and he is getting really sick of it. I think that all of the characters are different in their own, unique way! My favorite part of this story is when they smell the smoke and the lights turn off because of a fire! Everything is silent for a couple of seconds, and when they go to escape the door know is Hot! So as quick as they could they raced out of the room and realized there was a fire in the hotel. He tried to get to the stairs as quick as possible but it was really hard to get down them. As they were walking down the hall they noticed that there was someone lying on the ground and it was Daren. Of course they got outside eventually and when they were outside the tsunami warning went on right away! They were running so much that there legs really started to hurt, but they did not want to die from the tsunami. While they were running they got side tracked on 2 people with a dog. The 2 people told Kyle and Bee Bee to take the dog and go on without them, because they heard the 3rd warning. After they were in the woods a tsunami actually crashed and almost hit them! That is my favorite part and I want to hear your¿s too. I recommend this book to you if you like an adventure, mystery story with a whole lot of fun! Please read it and tell me how it was I would love to hear your explanation.

I recommend the book ¿Escaping the Giant Wave¿ by Peg Kehret. The genre is realistic fiction and has 150 pages. The setting is in the state of Kansas and Oregon. This is a story about a family going on vacation, which is also a business trip. The characters are the four people of the Davidson family. They are Kyle, Beebee, and their parents. Daren Hazelton is a bully who goes to the same vacation. Their parents have to attend meetings on a boat while the children stay in the motel that was near the ocean, alone. While they are by themselves, a tsunami happens after an earthquake starts a fire in their motel. One of my favorite scenes is when they try to carry Daren Hazelton down the motel stairs during the fire. Daren was always hurting Kyle and Beebee and being a brat even in their school. He still couldn¿t acknowledge how brave Kyle and his sister were to help him get out of the burning hotel. I really liked this part because they saved Daren¿s life even though he was a bully to them. From reading this book, I found out that you can realize how good Kyle and Beebee were about listening to lessons learned about tornadoes. They used this knowledge to save them selves from the tsunami which destroyed the motel where they had been. I learned what I should do in case we have a tornado, fire, earthquake or tsunami. I recommend this book because you can learn from Kyle and Beebee about how to deal with bullies and how to deal with natural disasters.

I highly reccomend this book!! It's one of my favorite books.. My favorite part is the last three chapters there so intense i was biting my finger nails! It felt as if I was there! I wanted to just finish the book and see how it would end!! So I think you should read this book!!
