Hungry for Donuts and a Good Mystery?

Please start to read this delightful author. This is her 4th book in the Donut Shop series and another on the way in August 2011. Jessica Beck makes it to be very light reading and also includes actual receipes in her book. She brings the same main characters in her stories so by this book #4, you will be familiar with her relationships with each of them. Makes you feel like your in April Springs, North Carolina with her. So pick up these wonderful light mysteries and enjoy the reading, I did and can't wait for more. By the way, when you finish, pick up a donut cause you'll be craving one when your finished.

    a cute cozy

April Springs, North Carolina is the location of the well known Donut Hearts; owned and operated by Suzanne Hart. Her store is turning a profit, but not by much. As she prepares to go to sleep, she hears controversial radio talk host Lester Moorefield call her product poison and labels her a killer for selling unhealthy food. He finishes his diatribe with calling for a boycott of the "deadly dough".

Furious, she goes down to the station only to see him smoking a cigarette. Her shouting at him lets everyone know they are feuding. Later the cops escort Suzanne to acrime scene where Lester created his show. The police chief questions Suzanne as someone murdered the radio jock leaving a Donut Hearts' éclair stuffed in the victim's mouth. Business slides as some of her customers believe Suzanne is the killer. To regain her reputation and save her shop, she and her friends Grace and George investigate only to find a horde of suspects with viable motives; many of whom she respects and likes.

Perhaps the only warning needed for the latest Donut Shop mystery (see Sinister Sprinkles and Fatally Frosted) is not to read it on an empty stomach because each chapter contains a recipe for a type of donut. A romantic subplot between Suzanne and her State Police boyfriend Jake enhances the tale (just think what he must be putting up with dating a donut baker). Readers will admire the spunky heroine and her loyal sidekicks as they investigate death by pastry in a cute Carolina cozy.

she woke up, slightly disoriented. the first thing she saw was eclair stuffing her face. she noticed multiple bowls in front of her, as well. "eat up, little fox." the guard who removed the spell last time sneered. "You're so skinny.. we need you nice and healthy." he said. "but.. i want out of the cage." she whined, the medicine slightly taking over her thoughts. "well, we can't let you out until you're good and healthy again. then you can get out." she opened her mouth to complain, but she suddenly couldn't remember why. "okay, deal." she said, because suddenly eating 10 bowls of food didn't seem like such a bad idea. she bent down and started eating from her food bowl.

    Awesome Read

Excellent book! I loved the description of the eclairs being flung at the unsuspecting "friendbutnotfriend" of Suzanne Hart. Funny and full of mystery, I loved it! Can't wait for the new one to come out.
