    Eh, Okay

Maybe I'm overly critical, because I came in expecting a Phantom of the Opera type of amazingness. After all, it is Andrew Lloyd Webber! I did like all the melodies, so his part was really good. But I find I wasn't thrilled with Antonio Banderez's voice. It was either mediocre or not good at all. Madonna was just Madonna, good but nothing spectacular. Some of the songs I felt shouldn't have been songs but just speaking parts, because they were awkward (or maybe it was just the people singing them). But it did have its redeeming songs: Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Another Suitcase, Another Hall, Buenos Aires, High Flying Adored, and You Must Love Me. But overall, it was simply eh.

    A Guilty Pleasure

I've never really been a big fan of Madonna, but I love her performance in Evita. Even better, though, is Antonio Banderas as Che. He is amazing in the movie, and I don't think his performance is diminished in any way on the soundtrack. I like this soundtrack better than the original Broadway production. The song during the waltz between Eva and Che is one of my favorites, because it shows Eva's many sides, from ambitious to vulnerable. Other performances of Evita have left me disliking Eva intensely, but Madonna's performance puts the listener (and viewer, in the case of the movie) in a tough spot trying to decide whether or not to like Eva - the character is just more well-rounded in this version, to me.

    Awesome!

This movie is incredible. I can't stop watching it. It is one of my favorites. The soundtrack is incredible also because it basically is the movie. I know every song. I play it over and over. Madonna and Antonio Banderas did a wonderful job.
