I Read this book when it first came out in hardbound and was fascinated by the narrative of the Beagle's sea voyage, the conflict between Darwin's views and those of Firzhugh, which not only destroyed their relationship, but eventually, Fitzhugh himself. I found it so compelling that I gave it to my brother as a gift. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Another Fantastic Piece of History Brought To Light
I had the pleasure of recently attending a presentation/discussion of Mr. Nichol's book. This prelude to reading the story was unique. The scenic detail, daily life descriptions, explanations of the sentiments that propelled the scientific research endeavors of the day, and the obvious deep research completed for this book creates a truly fascinating read. The enthusiam for the subject that I heard in person by the author, exists in force on each page. If you enjoy the revelations of another story behind the story that so much of history has in abundance, this book is a must. Enjoy! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
