    Missing Steps or arrows?

I think this project concept is fabulous! The papers are wonderful, and the size of the whole thing is great. However, as a person who HAS done quite a bit of "practical" origami -- boxes, bowls, cards, etc. the directions leave a lot to be desired.

I was interested to see another reviewer said she got help from the author's webpage -- I will definitely be checking that out.

For the number of folds, and the repetitive nature of them to shape the flowers, the paper is a bit thin. Unlike other origami, I would suggest that you NOT run your finger along creases to make them sharp. When you do that in THESE projects you end up with a stress point, and they eventually rip before the flower is finished.

I liked that the project contains leaf directions, as well as ways to use origami paper for stems. Many books do not provide the follow through to the completed projects pictures -- this book does, and that's wonderful.

Was the author consulted about the graphics? I have a feeling an editor decided a step or an illustration looked repetitive and removed it -- which makes some of the flowers VERY difficult to complete. Please be sure your editors DO the craft they are editing!

    Steps are specific enough

The book isn't nearly descriptive enough. It's a lot of, "Do this, this, magically warp it, and voila!" I feel like if there were more steps included and the steps themselves were more specific, it would be easier for everybody

    Too vague

When I was reading it, it would just say stuff like, Mountain fold, it wouldn't specify how you should do it to make it work. and the diagrams didn't help at all

    Challenging!

Great kit. Great illustrations. Very difficult for younger kids, challenging for teens. I would recommend practicing on plain paper first ( Printer paper works great). More detail with instructions is always appreciated but the illustrations cover the basics. The more challenging origami flowers can be frustrating for kids. Recommend. Makes a great gift.

nice but could use more illustrations

I like Fabulous Folded Flowers but it seemed like on many of them they seemed like they had a step written but skipped a illustration.

    Great gift for hospital patient.

this was a perfect gift for a cancer patient undergoing chemo treatments. On the cancer ward flowers and food gifts are not permitted since the patient's immune system is compromised. This book was perfect -young family members had an activity - folded the flowers as instructed in the book and the patient had a beautiful (although very small) floral arrangement for his room.

    Absolutely Amazing

Joost does and excellent job with the illustrations in the manual. His printed designs on the origami paper are great. Some of the harder flowers I had to look at his web pages and watch his videos, but they are still beautiful!

    Fabulous Folded Flowers

I was very interested in working on some origami, so I bought this product with the expectation that it would be easy to use, and understandable for a beginner. This was not the case however; I have had difficulty in understanding many of the instructions that are given in telling readers how to fold the paper. It has resulted in mediocre origami flowers that are not to my satisfaction. I understand that as a beginner I will not possess the talent to create a masterful piece of art from a little, square paper in a matter of moments; however at the same time, I expect to be able to at least understand what it is I am trying to do.
I had a friend of mine, who is familiar with origami, try making a few flowers from this book. She also had a rough time with it, and did not think that the book gave proper instruction.
I believe that if this book had more detailed instructions as well as more step-by-step pictures for readers to follow along with, then it would be a much higher quality book that would satisfy it's readers.
