Pretty good beginning because we see Gemma is troubled. There are new classmates Aislin and Alex that know things about her. Gemma can be strong-willed and impulsive. Yet, there are times we see her fear of the mysteries surrounding her. Her life is a defenitive shocking revelation. Just utterbly creative fantasy writing done without fail.

HOLY WOW!!!! I loved this story!
My Thoughts:
"In the midst of a dark forest, haunted by the winters chill, I ran for my life." (quoted from page 1 of The Fallen Star by Jessica Sorensen)
That is the first sentence - gripping!!! I was "in" from that very sentence. What struck me first is the fantastically visual language. The writing is so vivid that I was able to actually FEEL Gemma's panic. The characters are mysteriously created with vague descriptions that are intriguing and led me to turn the pages and read on to learn more. By chapter six I was still in the grip of Gemma's emotions and could feel my heart pounding as I continued to read. The story is wonderfully written. The characters are fascinating and I couldn't wait to find out all the answers to the questions I had compiled.
The story finished as strong as it started. The characters and the plot developed before my eyes! I found myself unwilling to put the book down, always needing to read just one more page; one more chapter. The story tells of secrets both kept and told, friendship, duty, and betrayal. I love the characters, they drive the story. This is a new theme; the fallen star with the power to save or condemn the world. There are mysteries left unsolved and the story finishes in a heart wrenching cliffhanger. Well worth the read!!!!180 out of 243 people found this review helpful.

Definitely Entertaining Fantasy
The story of Gemma, a teen girl, who for her entire life has been unemotional until she becomes eighteen. She soon meets Aislin & Alex who want to protect her since she is far more important than she thought. There is a deep chain of secrets she uncovers. Alex knows things but can he be trusted even when Gemma feels drawn to him? Then there is Laylen a vampire. But Nicholas who is half-faerie. A searing first book in the Fallen Star series. It's a hugely-thrilling paranormal read.

Must keep reading!!!
I loved the book. It was extrodinarily good and enjoyable to read. Very well written (minus all the typos.. but there werent a lot so they were pretty easy to ignore) and it kept my attention the whole time. I was completely enraptured while reading to the point that i didnt notice i had stayed up past 4am reading. The ending of the book leaves you guessing and im going crazy right now because i want to know!! Please, please write a sequel, mrs. author lady. This book is officially one of my new favorites and im going to make all of my friends read it asap. I really must get this point across: THIS BOOK IS FANTASTIC.

BookWhisperer Rating: The Fallen Star by Jessica Sorensen
This self published novel is a breath taking display of talent from this new author. Gemma's story is unique and heartbreaking; creating a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. With a story that plays on the sympathy of the readers it is almost impossible to not find yourself absorbed into this story with so much intensity. Though, I must note this book is so much more than just sadness for Gemma's life; the story is action packed and mysterious creating a suspenseful read for the paranormal and supernatural lovers. With no clear cut direction this is a compilation of the species that readers love in this genre. Gemma carries a Fallen Star's power that proves unique and intriguing, but as the story progresses it is evident that this author knows no bound including Vampires, Fae, Forseers, and a entirely new species that would include the Death Walkers. Specifically, the Death Walkers remind me of the Dementors out of Harry Potter movies, but I have to say that in my opinion it did not deter the story's integrity; other than a slight feeling of déjà voo. I am speechlessly impressed by the ability that this author has shown in this debuting novel, and to find it self publisher was shocking. The conclusion was a heart stopping cliff hanger that comes to a very abrupt halt. As a reader this left me distraught with the lack of a clear cut ending; although as a reviewer I think this was a promise of talent in the author to notice an opportunity to leave the readers guessing for the future of this novel. This is definitely a book to be recommended.

Grammatical nightmare
I found the characters immature with absolutely no depth to them. Gemma made one bad decision after another with absolutely no reasoning behind it. The writing was basic, and more suitable for pre-teen readers. The grammar and spelling mistakes in almost every sentence made the book a nightmare to read.

Not for adults
I remember that when I found this book, I was excited and interested, but after a few pages, I couldn't help but be frustrated with the choppy flow of the series. the writing is more suitable for those younger than 14, definitely not for adults. I was disappointed with this book as it couldn't keep my attention long enough.

LOVED it!!!
I absolutely LOVED this book. The story was interesting and fast paced which kept me reading until very late at night. I fell in love with all of the characters, especially Gemma who lived though circumstances that seem unimaginable but Jessica does a great job of making her someone we can relate to despite her situation. The first 2 books of this series were exciting and very well written and I absolutely cannot wait for the third to come out!
