I am so torn over my review for this book, I was flitting between 3.5/4 stars. Far Too Tempting started off really strong for me. I was in love with Jane from page one. Jane had her heart broken and her world shattered, so she penned a 'break up' album that took the world by storm. I adore Adele and the beginning of the book had that vibe of a strong female pouring her feelings into song. I really wanted Jane's album to be real! I would buy it in an instant.
Then entered Matthew, he was a music journalist who had been following Jane's career and wanted an exclusive interview about her overnight success after slogging away for years with her music. Jane had a young son she wanted to keep out of the limelight and also an ex-husband with his own revelations she didn't want exposed.
As I said the first 50% of the book I loved, I loved getting to know Jane and her background, I loved her supportive family and I loved the flirting and mixed messages with Matthew. Once Jane started to record her follow up album I felt the pace slowed a little and the story lost some fizz. Matthew was a sweet hero, and sweet can be good but I do like them a little rough around the edges ;) Yes there were plenty of hot smexy times but it didn't leap off the page for me. The word tame came to mind. I did remind myself it is an adult book so maybe the fast pace of New Adult was what I was expecting but nonetheless I couldn't help want more from the storyline when Jane spent her time in the studio. At one point I worried that Jane was going to make a foolish move but I was pleasantly surprised when the plot took an unexpected turn, for Matthew to then go and mess things up!
I did like the growth Jane went through, after years of being in a loveless marriage, on her ex-husband's side, Jane had to regain her confidence and realise she was a sexy vixen and she was worthy of being worshipped. I liked this element and as always Lauren Blakely writes kick ass heroines!
If you are a fan of Lauren Blakely's books then you will adore Far Too Tempting. Although it is not my favourite of the bunch, there are all the elements of a great read; love, self discovery and good ol' smexy times :) And if you are a fan of music then it's all tied up in a neat little package so you need to 1-Click this today!
