A Favorite Now Being Passed to Another Generation

Bill Peet is a wonderful storyteller and illustrator. His stories have a rhythm and flow that is mesmerizing. Combine that with the captivating illustrations and you have a book that will enchant children over and over again.

My adult daughter received "Farewell to Shady Glade" when she was two years old and it became an immediate and lasting favorite. "Farewell to Shady Glade" is a favorite gift for a new generation of family and friends.

    Bill Peet is the Best!

Shady Glade was one of my children's favorite books. The story has the right amount of drama to engage the child. It teaches and builds a concern for the world and environment without being preachy or righteous. As with all of Bill Peet's books it teaches a lesson about tolerating different personalities and a sense of working together. I will NEVER let go of this book. Again, as is with all Peet's books, the vocabulary, art work, lessons and content are unmatched.

    Great book!

This was my daughter's favorite book! The age range says 5-8, but my daughter received this as a gift at age two and would sit and listen, mesmerized by the pictures and story. The pictures are wonderfully engaging and the author's lyrical writing style really holds kids attention. A favorite of children and parents in our home!
