A True Must Have Book! One that may never leave your side or desk top!

So glad to have learned of this new dummies books.As it is not like were taught about fashions and how to put fashions together in the right way.Not even my own older sister ever taught me how to put out fits together at all..Over all it is a very detailed book on many topics one should know..From picking your own style to stocking your closet with out going crazy or broke, to knowing what clothes in your closet are considered a must have 10 to keep in your wardrobe any thing else should be donated to charity..And it mentions that...And the art of developing a good basic wardrobe and how to build and add to what you already got...The best point i have learned from this book is that when dressing and before stepping out the door one should dress as if your going to run into someone you have not seen in years.....in making a good impression...and all the time..Just can not wait to change my image and impress my family and friends and to pass on my own knowledge of what i learned to friends and family...A must have book that will never leave my night stand ..

My Daughter Calls This Her Fashion Bible...

...even though she's only 12. ; ) Seriously, she's quite interested in discovering her own personal style (although I'm sure it will change over the years!). This book is easy for her to read & adaptable enough that even though it's aimed at adults, she can use the information for herself as well. And thankfully, she now understands why what's fashionable at the moment isn't necessarily the best look for everyone...so I can wear my high-waisted jeans on my long torso without her insisting that I need low-waisted jeans (which look great on her short torso)! A very enjoyable & easy read.

A decent book that covers the basics

It is a large book and I think I would've expected more. I found it to be quite repetitive at times. The color images are nice but I would have preferred actual PHOTOS over unrealistic sketches. You just don't get the same effect from the sketches because they aren't as convincing. But there are some really good tips and interesting facts about the fashion industry in there. It's a pretty quick and easy read, too. Overall, a pretty good addition to the For Dummies series.

fashion for dummies - a must for every woman

i never miss one of jill martin's segments on the today show, so when my daughter gave me 'fashion for dummies' i was thrilled! it is a witty, easy to follow, informative and beautifully illustrated book. i especially enjoyed the fashion quiz ( i am a 'classic'), the best clothes for your body type (i'm an apple), and my very favorite was the concept of '10' (i'm a hoarder). i was inspired to go through my closet, give away those clothes that did not make me look and feel fabulous (jill even suggests the charities to donate to), and now i can really see what i have in my closet. this book will be my holiday gift to all the women i love.
