    Seashantys trial chapter 7

Saltkit and seashanty watched the battle from the medicine den. Largeclaw bounded away into the forest. Seashanty sighed with relief and applied cobwebs to saltkit's injured leg, since the medicine cat wasnt there. Suddenly, a cat emerged from the shadows and pounced on her. It was Largeclaaw! There was a pasage in the back of the den that Largeclaw had entered from the woods. "Give Forestbreeze and me Saltkit, or youll die," he growled, and to empasize the point he dug his claws into Seashanty's scruff. "She'll never remember you, or crossedflame, or anything." Seashanty's greatest trial was upon her. She thought about the stories she had heard as a kit. The stories about cats who had been lied to and betrayed, who's families hadn't told them they were adopred; stories of stolen kits, torn between to clans when they discovered their past. Seashanty thought about her options. If she died, Largeclaw would take Saltkit anyways. "No," she whispered. "No. My kit will not be forced into believing lies." Largeclaw bared his teeth. Buut before he could make a move, another cat barreled into him. "Go!" Crossedflame gasped as Largeclaw pulled him down. Seashanty grabbed Saltkit and ran. She stopped in the forest. "Why isnt daddy here mama?" Asked the ever-curious Saltkit. A bloodcurdling cry split the air. Seashanty cried out in fright and ran. She ran until she had no strenght left. ................Seashanty and saltkit waited through the night for crossedflame. When he didn't come, Seashanty refused to believe the worst. "We'll go back to waterclan in the morning," she told her kit, snuggling up.
