    A Must for Any Pilot

Ernest Gann is without doubt a great pilot. He logged more the 22,000 flight hours, and for those of you who aren't pilots, that is alot of time. He flew almost every plane that can be found in the U.S. His book, Fate Is The Hunter is such an amazing book. It takes the reader into the cockpit and takes them through the roughest weather, the most dismal of flying conditions, and proves that pilots are bound by their fate. Gann paints such amazing and clear images to describe what is going on both in the cockpit and in the pilot's mind. He leaves the reader feeling the shock and terror of close calls, and the elation of surviving a hair raising experience. While this is nothing more than my humble opinion, this is something I highly recommend to any pilot.

    I Also Recommend:

A great read that reveals a thoughtful human.

This was a wonderful book. Gann was a human who was in touch with reality. The story should be required reading for young people who are of a perceptive bent. You will enjoy this book.

For those who either are pilots, or aspire to be one, this book is timeless...

I first read this book as a juvenile before learning to fly, then reread it while in college and learning, and have reread it several more times during a flying career that has spanned more than three deacades. Every time I have read it again, my own experiences have made me appreciate all the more what kind of thought processes he was experiencing at the time. You can see him changing, as time passes, from an inexperienced young First Officer into a very seasoned Captain. Reading it makes me wish that I could have been around about thirty years earlier to experience more of the kind of pioneering that happened then. Even now this book captivates me! It is the best single aviation book I have ever read.

    On the Edge of Imagination

If you want to read an airline pilot's exquisite description of flight and the personalities that flock to it, this book is for you. It will make you sit up and take notice and sometimes hold your breath. The writing is exquisite; the stories are engaging. If you don't love flight, when you finish this book, you'll hold an appreciation for it's dangers and it's beauty.

    The bible of airline adventures

Ernest K. Gann puts you in the cockpit of the "round engine" airliners. As you feel the senstions of the adolescent period of airline flying, Ernie takes you around the world in one adventure after another. Without question the best aviation book ever written, an absolute must for any pilot and especially for those who wanted to make the airlines but never quite got in the door. This timeless book has motivted countless pilots, and is referred to in the cockpit today.
