It's a business classic for a reason...
I recently recommended this to a friend of mine who is a 2nd generation owner of a very successful company just like Thomas Watson Jr. (even though IBM was a publicly traded-company back then as well as today, the influence of the Watson father-son executive team had many of the same themes as a family-owned business). Was this review helpful? The story of Thomas, Jr.'s transition from a hugely successful sales executive to the CEO's office told of his personal struggles in the shadows of his popular father as well as the surprising (for me)personal challenges arising from the status of CEO of IBM that only a few business owners and executives have the opportunity to have.
Nice to know that my friend saw the value in the book just like I did.
