    Very Insightful

It amazes me the kind of isolation these compounds and religious cults seem to have. I thought the author did a great job trying to be fair and balanced to her old faith and how she sees things now. She did a wonderful job capturing her reason and the spirit of her young self and beliefs. I could see that she worked very hard no to insult anyone's way of life while also trying to be honest about some of it's pitfalls. She also did a wonderful job enticing me to read some of the works by others of the same events just so I could further compare the picture and perhaps begin to better understand what brings people to the idea that polygamy is divine and how one lives within that framework.

    A must read!

An insightful peek inside a community far different from the norm. Very interesting and page turning. A great addition to several other books written about the Mormon way of life. I finished this book in one day!

The life Susan shared was done so with courage. So many who hear of polygamy do so without the knowledge of what it involves emotionally and physically for the women and children who are raised in the environment. My heart ached with Susan's sufferings and the choices she had to struggle with, and tearfully rejoiced with her determination to have her children escape the same struggles. This book is insightful and gives an honest, unbiased inside look at what polygamy truly produces.

It's so hard to understand the hold some religious leaders have

It's so hard to understand the hold some religious leaders have on their followers. This book does an excellent job of explaining why she stayed. It's amazing to me that she found the strength and courage to leave that way of life, especially having five children to take into consideration. I'm so glad she finally found the happiness she searched for and deserved.

    Interesting!!

This book was very interesting. I had already read the book, Shattered Dreams, by another wife in this same family. This book gives a totally different perspective and more details on polygamy and the LeBaron family.
