Now however the Mafia family is involved wanting both gangs to pay taxes on the drugs they've been selling on the street and when the Panthera's resist, there will be a price to pay.
Jade Laurent has spent her life trying to find hope in a seemingly desperate world she sees in her job as a social worker. Not only does she refuse to maintain a professional business relationship with her clients but when dealing with wives who have been abused by their husbands, she realizes she must do all she can to help, even if it means risking her job.
When Jade gets a little too close for comfort with a woman named Doreen and her daughter Cassidy, Doreen's drunk husband makes a personal threat to Jade that she will pay for sticking her nose in his families business.
In the latest novel by Robin Carroll, Fear No Evil, we learn how much our past is still very much a part of our lives no matter how far we try to run. We are taken into the lives of Guerrero and Jade, in two very different situations and see how trying to avoid dealing with difficult situations from our past can affect the lives of the people we involve in our present day lives. This book is an edge of your seat thrill ride from the very first page and will leave you completely breathless til the final page.
I received Fear No Evil by Robin Carroll compliments of NetGalley and B & H Publishing Group for my honest review. This one rates a 5 out of 5 stars for the action adventure thrill ride you will find yourself on from the very first page of the book. For those of you looking for a great Christian Suspense Crime Fiction, then this is the book for you! This book is available in paperback and eBook Reader formats!

A Book With Take Home Value
I purchased this book at the ACFW Conference in Indianapolis, IN last year. I had read Deliver Us From Evil the year before and knew I liked Robin's writing. I was not disappointed. Although the main thread of this story revolves around big city gang warfare, I was interested in the thread of domestic violence which the heroine of the story addresses with social worker Jade Laurent. According to Wikipedia domestic violence is a serious, preventable public health problem affecting more than 32 million Americans, or over 10% of the U.S. population. Robin is a master story teller with well rounded characters. I could not put the book down until I had turned the last page. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. exciting and fast-paced
Officer Lincoln Vailes came to the small town of Eternal Springs, Louisiana, to help take care of his ailing father. What he never expected was to be dealing with flooding in the aftermath of a hurricane or for dead bodies to start showing up left and right. Was this review helpful? Social worker Jade Laurent has secrets in her past that make her even more passionate about helping the battered women and kids that her job brings into her life. Because of her past, she doesn't have room for a man in her life, not even the handsome officer who keeps showing up in the nick of time.
When the violence surrounding Jade escalates, she and Lincoln are thrown together in the fight of their lives. Will they survive? Will they fall in love?
Robin really brings the reader into this book by using really strong descriptives about the setting. One of my favorites was when she describes the humidity as making the hero feel as if his dress suit is a wetsuit. Yikes! She does a great job of making you feel you are *there*, right in the story.
The author also keeps the pace of the story fast - but not too fast - so that the reader is drawn into the action. I really had a hard time putting this book down. The mystery/gang storyline is woven in throughout the small-town storylines in a way that keeps the reader guessing and interested.
The love story in this romantic suspense was deftly handled and draws the reader in to that part of the book. Overall, this is a quality read. Recommended.

The Fingers of Evil Have No Boundaries...
Tangled webs of deception are skillfully woven into this dramatic and vivid story. "Small town living" is considered a safe haven, but the unthinkable often lurks around the corner. The writing has a good flow and is easy to follow. The two-sided story will open your heart to truth you wish you didn't learn, for this fiction could be someone's reality. Fear No Evil is filled with passionate characters who take their jobs to the limit and beyond. Visualize the chaos, feel the fear and watch the struggle for survival as evil slithers into Eternal Springs. Be sure and lock your doors! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Fear No Evil
I found this story interesting. Jade is a young social worker who is trying to make a difference in the world after her own experience in life. She really puts her heart on her sleeve and we learn a lot about her through out this whole ordeal. Then, there is Lincoln, he use to be a park ranger and quit to move closet to his parents. He is now a police officer of the small town in Louisiana where the story takes place. Lincoln is trying to make sense of what is going on with his father having Alzheimer's disease and his faith is tested through out the book. One of Lincoln's cases involves Jade. It starts off with one of Jade's clients in trouble and they think the bad guys are them. Are they really or are they after Jade? It is humorous at times to see how Jade and Lincoln interact with each other. This is a great mystery to read with a hint of romance. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Fear No Evil
Lincoln Vailes, is home. Back in Louisiana where his parents live. He has returned home to help his mom with his ailing father. A minister all his life, now Lincoln's dad is facing the horrible disease of Alzheimer's. It is hard to see him not in his right mind. This illness has definitely taken its toll on the Vailes family, Lincoln's father is not himself, raging in the disease, Lincoln's faith is tested to near the breaking point, and his poor mother is tired. Was this review helpful? Jade Laurent (Santiago) is a social worker fresh out of college, with a mission to save all abused wives and children. Her past gives her a passion for the abused wives, and she is serious about her job. Perhaps too serious, allowing herself to become emotionally and personally intangled in a ongoing case.
Someone is in the small town of Eternal Springs Lousiana, on a mission to do harm to Jade, and Lincoln, as a police officer on the small town force is determined to find out who it is and why they want to hurt her. What he doesn't expect, however is to loose his heart to the fiesty young social worker. Now it is personal, whoever is trying to hurt Jade has to be exposed. Will exposing that person lead to Jade's death? Will she survive the terror that has been planned against her?
This book was an attention grabber. I started this book late at night, my first mistake, and ended up reading into the wee hours of the morning. I had to finish it. I could not put it down. Robin Caroll, who I already enjoyed reading from her previous book Deliver Us From Evil (which Lincoln Vailes was also in that book) once again proved herself as an author with the ability to keep me on the edge of my seat. Throw in the fact that she is a fellow Arkansan, and she moves right to the top of my list of favorite authors. Definitely a book to read this summer! 320 pages $14.99 US 5 stars.
