The sample doesn't clue you in. So I bought it and wasted my money.

Pointless
There is no doubt about it Max Lucado has been endowed with a wonderful gift, he is a genius when it comes to his writing style and he has a great imagination. His illustrations drawn from real life are riveting and he has much to teach us from his own Christian walk and that of others who have crossed his path. However in spite of some great moments especially towards the end of the book it felt to me like he had nothing to say. Part of the problem to mind is for much of the book he doesn't know who he is talking to too. He says that this is a book for Christians and for those without faith but later in the book he talks about having nothing to fear because after death we have Heaven waiting for us. This isn't true for those without Christ, as Lucado knows. The book gets better as you move on, he moves away from the easy believism suggested at the start of the book to a real vigorous self denying type of faith by the end of the book. While I was disappointed for much of the book it was nevertheless a joy to read because his style is so thoroughly readable, I just wish he had something more to say.

A great book which gave me a better understanding of the peace that comes with a life in Christ. Recommend it for father's and mother's who find themselves up on sleepless nights worrying about the times and season we are in. It gave me a new perspective on battling fear and worry as a father of two sons in college and a major career transition. I can breathe easy now, without fear, worry or fret. This is powerful book.

A Light Encouraging Read. In this book Max Lucado points out that Jesus' most frequently used phrase is "do not fear" and asks the reader to consider what it would be like to live life completely free of needless fear. He addresses issues such as fear for your child's future, worry about everyday things, and the fear of sickness and death. Max has a talent for making the reader look at well-known Scriptural truths in a fresh way, and this book is no exception. He blends Scripture exposition (of a fairly light variety...don't expect in-depth analysis) with everyday examples to create an encouraging book for any Christian.

Very Specific Genre...
I really enjoyed it but I felt like it was what I was facing that helped me to enjoy it so much. It is quite repetitive but if you are facing fear and anxiety you kind of need to be "smacked upside the head" with the message.

Let go of the fear!
Having been a lifelong "fifth sparrow" Max Lucado's words have been a release of avalanche proportions for me! It will take time and effort but I am ready and so encouraged. Thank you Pastor Lucado; thank you for honoring the gift God has given you.

Disappointed in Sample
The sample you download only has 2 actual text pages from the book. The other 17 pages are: the cover, praise for the book, a title page, a list of other books by the author, another title page, publishing information, the dedication page, table of contents, and acknowledgments. Perhaps one day, samples will be excerpts from the book instead of just taking the first 20 or so pages beginning with the cover. The one-star rating is for the sample not the whole book as I have not read the whole book yet.

Repetitive
Pretty good, but you only need to read the first half of the book. It getsvl awfully repetitive after that. Worth the money though.

Great book.
I recently read the book Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear by Max Lucado. I originally selected this book to review because I thought it would be the perfect book for me as I am a person who tends to be fearful of most everything. Indeed, I did enjoy the book and after reading it, I do believe it was a great selection. Max Lucado uses this book to address many common fears that we experience on a regular basis, such as illness, violence, natural disasters, death, disappointing God, and other common fears of things that are usually beyond our control. The main message of the book tends to be fear less and trust God more. The book goes into detail about how having a trusting and intimate relationship with God can help you alleviate your fears, whether they are grounded in reality or exaggerated.

The book was easy to read. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down. Max Lucado uses many stories, life illustrations, and parables to help the information seem more real and applicable. He also discusses ways to have a relationship with God that is outside of your comfort zone. I particularly liked the use of the acronym "PEACEFUL" to teach Lucado's 8 "worry stoppers." I would highly recommend this book to anyone who deals with fear or anxiety.

Very Interesting
I love the way that Max has showed that he cares about his family and written this book, And how he has used peices of the bible and movies from other Christian authors in this wonderful book.
