A fine, charming book to cozy up with.
If you love cats, you will love this third book in the Cat in the stacks Mystery series. A compelling mystery with a lovable cat thrown into the mix. What more could you ask for? I loved it.

Twist and turn, a killer revealed
This third in the Cat in the Stacks mysteries is full of twists and turns. The characters are even more interesting this time around. The murder mystery twines in and around the story with the final revelation bursting open my conclusions.
Definitely worth more than a single reading.3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Entertaining
Charlie & Diesel at it again. Always too many secrets in small town America. The more Miranda James puts the human element in it the better.

Diesel doesn't talk (to other animals or his humans), doesn't do mysterious stunts; he's simply a big lovable cat. His human family are fun to read about as they try to solve mysteries with Diesel providing emotional encouragement.

a charming read
What a happy surprise for Charlie as his daughter, Laura, arrives for a visit that includes teaching at the local college. Laura’s visit is later marred when her ex-boyfriend is found dead and her life is threatened. This was a good read and I love the pace of this well-written story. I adore the relationship that Charlie has with his family and friends in this character-driven tale. I look forward to the next book in this enjoyably charming series.

If you like this series
Although I'm fond of Charlie Harris and his enormous Maine coon cat, Diesel, this third book would have been better, in my opinion, if it had less petting of Diesel, and Diesel's warbling. Then it would have been an excellent long short story. The plot is good and the characters amusing.

I love mysteries with cats and books so that makes this a pretty good read in the first place. Miranda James brings all of the family together this time which was a nice change. I mean the human family of course; not the feline one. Diesel is still the "aplha cat". However, he sure was "uncomfortable" and had to be petted on the head a lot. Almost began to seem like filler. Maybe that's why I felt like this was sort of a slow read. I was looking for the next book before I finished the last page though (won't be out until January 2013) so it had to have been a pretty good read.

With everything from attacks on Laura Harris to letter bombs and attempted fires on the Harris household it’s up to the Harris Kid’s and boarders Stewart and Justin along with Dante, Diesel and Charlie to find out who’s out to get the Harris’s. I enjoyed this so much. Seeing Charlie with a new relationship starting and getting to see how the kids interact with their father and how they all show love to Dante and Diesel. A great cozy mystery I have fallen in love with. I especially love reading about Athena! -

Love Diesel
Diesel does not solve mysteries but he is essential to his master and family. Quite charming mysteries.
