Shameless Plug
Yes, I'm the author, and yes, this is a shameless plug. This book is the result of several years of research, analytical listening, writing and rewriting.

My fascination with soundtracks began over 10 years ago when I started collecting them in earnest. I was working on a screenplay at the time and needed music to help me think cinematically. Not only did I find soundtrack music to be inspirational, I also discovered that collecting soundtracks can be very addictive. While hunting for rare scores I also kept an eye open for books about soundtracks, but never found what I was looking for. So, I decided to write my ideal soundtrack book, having already written numerous soundtrack reviews on my website www.ScoreBaby.com.
So, here it is. If you're a movie buff, love all kinds of music, and enjoy books about popular culture and art, you may find my book interesting. If you're looking for technical analysis based on music theory, you'll be disappointed -- it's not that kind of book. Each chapter is devoted to a genre (crime, spy, sexploitation, western, sci-fi, horror and rock 'n' roll), with multiple sub-genres (blaxploitation, spaghetti westerns, giallo thrillers) mixed in. Each chapter presents a chronological overview of the major and minor scores from the early '05s to the late '70s. It has many illustrations including promotional film stills, album covers and photos of famous film composers.
There's definitely nothing else like this book out there. If it's out of stock here, check McFarlandpub.com. Thanks for considering it and thank you very much if you buy it. Enjoy.
