I would write a review if I had understood any of this book
As a long time comics fan, this was the most frustratingly confusing epic I've ever read. It made NO sense. None, whatsoever. It was a poorly plotted excuse to kill Batman and make an "impact" but in the end you're left wondering just what in the hell happened. DC used to be good at this sort of thing: see the original Crisis and, more recently, Sinestro Corps War. They have hope for redemption too: see the upcoming Blackest Night. But this is, bar none, the worst major event in comics history. It is atrocious.

Save your money
The only reason I bought this book is because it is written by Grant Morrison, who's one of the best comic book writers out there. But even that didn't save this book from the clutches of doom. The story doesn't make sense anyway you look at it . As you read it, the story jumps from one point to the other leaving us wondering what the hell happened. It's like it was written by a novice and not by a professional like Morrison.

Could be better....
Overall this novel is ok at best. The art is great, but the story gives you the run around several times. You'll read little side stories which barely fit into the plot as a whole and overall make it more eclectic.

The ultimate mess
[NO SPOILERS]

For both an experienced DC reader or an average one this book is an incomprehensible mess. Now be fully aware that there ARE enough resources online to allow anyone to understand every nook and cranny of the myriad characters and plot lines that are intertwined here -the intro itself points it out- but they are NOT meant to be understood.
Final Crisis clashes loudly against graphic novel storytelling to the point of mocking the way they are written, developed and explained. Much is left unanswered and unexplained (selling point for Final Crisis revelations I figure) but even more than that just MAKES NO SENSE.
I must sadly acknowledge that this is in part the point of it - the crisis is so immense it threatens sense, rationality and logic.
In its defense, it is very well drawn. If you are looking for an allstar cameo of ultimate proportions albeit with as little sense as a watch without numbers this book is for you. If not look elsewhere. -

The worst mega-series DC has ever done
Final Crisis is the series that convinced me DC has jumped the shark. Their recent corruptions of loved characters (Hal Jordan as villain Parallax, Superboy-Prime as psychotic sociopath, etc.) follows true to form again in this series.

The artwork is at once both technically outstanding in pencils, inking and coloring and near-pornographic in content. There is really no need for the amount of gore depicted in Final Crisis or the associated Countdown and Requiem mini-series.
I wish I could get a refund on these. -

Very Muddled, disappointing.
Considering the number of characters who buy the farm, and the mythic stature of one in particular, the story here is sort of all over the place. When you kill a major character, the story ought to be overwhelming, and very epic. This book reads as if every other page is from another book, and doesn't allow any real involvement in any of the many plotlines... you never really get sucked in. It jumps around enough to be confusing. The shame here is that if they'd fleshed out fewer storylines, this would have been a helluva good book. The artwork varied in style (but that's to be expected), and did not take away from the story. But when you bump off an iconic character, there should be enough text and artwork to make people sit up and take notice... a titan should not pass in a mere handful of panels.

I Agree It Is A Mess
As a big fan of DC Comics and heroes for years and the Crisis Of Infinite Earths and Infinite Crisis they really dropped the ball on Final Crisis. It had great art but the storylne was a jumbled mess. If Final Crisis was the beginning of a new era they failed.

final crisis is a big mess !!!
as a former comic book collector , i now look forward to collections such as this in order to keep up with the DC universe ( and the Hardcover books look more "grown up " on my bookshelf ) however , THIS collection was VERY DISAPPOINTING !!! it was UNEVEN at best , and I must admit I had a HARD time FINISHING it !!! I DO NOT recommend it !!!

DC Universe goes wild
this story was kinda hard to follow. Not for young kids that always want things to end happily.

Excellent book, GREAT story and included books that fleshed out the main storyline.
I have to give this graphic novel a couple dozen thumbs up!! This was one of the most anticipated storylines in recent DC comics history. It was shocking to the way the characters handled the events of Final Crisis. It was also fun to see Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew, even if for a couple panels, again. All in all an EXTREMELY EXCELLENT story. Told wonderfully and including all the side stories that made it all fit together nicely.
