As usual, I have mixed feelings after reading a novella. I liked the plot line and the characters, but I felt like things were so rushed that it took away from the story. Let me explain. :)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
"Finally" is about Lauren and Marcus. They have been long distance co-workers for several years - her in Chicago and him in Denver. There has always been a mutual attraction between the two of him, but the timing was never right. He seemed to always have a girlfriend, and Lauren was engaged until recently. However, after Lauren caught her fiancee cheating on her, and Marcus broke it off with the latest in a string of girlfriends, it finally seems like the stars have aligned in their favor. Add in to the equation that Marcus is coming to Chicago for a big board meeting to woo a client, and you have the perfect scenario for the two of them to explore their sexual attraction. Because that's all it is, right? At least that's what they both say they want. Ha. We know how that always ends up.
It is undeniable that Scarlett Metal knows how to write scorchingly hot sex scenes. Marcus and Lauren have the kind of sex that everyone dreams about having - repeatedly. I liked it. I've always liked a well done work of erotica. However, for a short portion of the book the sex totally overwhelmed the story. I found myself getting to the point where I was like, "Okay, I've read enough about mind blowing orgasms. Let's get on with the actual story." But I want to reiterate: it was very well-written, spank bank material sex! I was just eager to see where the story went next.
Predictably, Marcus and Lauren quickly discover that their feelings run deeper than what they would feel towards a sex buddy. Both of them realize almost simultaneously that they want this fling to become more, and I have to say that it was refreshing for once to read a story where both characters admitted this feeling to the other right away. Sometimes all of the drawing out and build up of a big "feeling" confession gets old. I will say that I did feel like things were way rushed and forced, almost too insta-lovey for me, but I get that it's because this is a novella. I really have high hopes for the full length novel that Scarlett is releasing later this year that deal with these two characters, and I hope that we get all of the character building and relationship development that I felt were missing in this novella.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. I liked the characters, and I like the loose end that is left dangling with Kyle (Lauren's ex). I feel like he's going to pop up in the next book and cause some trouble. If you want a sexy, short read, you should definitely try this out. Hopefully it will hook you in enough that, like me, you'll be waiting for the release of book two in August 2013.

I wanted MORE. If I had to describe Scarlett Metal¿s new book,

If I had to describe Scarlett Metal’s new book, FINALLY, with just one word, it would be MORE — Lauren and Marcus wanted more out of their weekend fling and I wanted more of their story!
Lauren and Marcus have worked together (albeit long-distance) for several years and despite their instant and mutual attraction they have never hooked up because Lauren was always in a serious relationship. After Lauren catches her fiancé cheating on her, she ends the relationship and is ready for a hot weekend with Marcus. Only as soon as the fling begins, both Marcus and Lauren begin to realize their feelings run much deeper than a short affair.
Honestly I kept thinking maybe there was a novella pre-FINALLY because the reader gets a lot of backstory in regards to how Lauren and Marcus met and what kind of chemistry they had before the start of the book. My issue with a lot of backstory is, if we are going to be told that the two had an instant chemistry and that is why this fling is quickly culminating into stronger feelings – I’d rather experience it myself so that I can get into the characters and into the story. Not to mention, I think the backstory sounded really good – I would have loved to watch Lauren and Marcus meet for the first time and I certainly wouldn't have minded watching Lauren catch her fiance cheating and giving him the boot!
And the sex. The sex scenes were my favorite part – and yet I was left wanting so. much. more. The sex scenes were smoking hot and right when I’d get hot and bothered – they’d climax and it was over. Wait - what? That's it? You guys are done? I was just, we were just... What? The phrase two-pump-chump came to mind. I mean, I get this is a novella but really? I was just getting started! Come on! Don’t leave me hanging!
I think most of my concerns really started and ended with depth – the story and descriptions were there, Lauren and Marcus certainly had the potential — I just wanted MORE! I wanted to hear it, feel it, taste it, experience it for myself. Especially if they are going to fall in love – because I didn’t get to fall in love with them, they were already practically there before I came on board and I was just supposed to take it at face value. But for love I need to believe it, and anything less I just keep thinking – really? He’s willing to… and he’s okay with you... And… really? Why? How? I want MORE!

Let me start by warning you this book has a lot of sex! I know..
Let me start by warning you this book has a lot of sex! I know.. GASP!!! .. I mean alot. I know this is a novella, so we don't have a huge book to work with, but..to me, this had a lot of sex. Hotel room sex, closet sex, panty ripping sex, and of course, I think I may be in love with you sex. In other words, hot hot hot hot sex!!!Not that I am completely complaining about that either..I'm just saying. Anyway..I really liked that Marcus and Lauren have a basis for their relationship. They aren't just random people who meet in college or a bar, they've been friends for years. It helps them transition, if you ask me. And now that she is single, they're ready to try this out. Sex can't be the foundation for a relationship, can it? If so, these two are OFF THE CHARTS! oooh... sorry, didn't mean to go back there. okay.. I also really liked that Marcus was the one making the big move. Usually, it's the woman. Not this time. Thank you Marcus for realizing what you want and taking action to get it! I was also so proud of Lauren for how she handled the situation with the, the cheating bastard, nicely done. I give this little novella 3.5 stars. Looking for a hot, quick, steamy read?? This is your guy right here! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
