The Best Book on Relationship That I Have Ever Read

I read this book when it was first published about 15 years ago. I have re-read it numerous times in between when hitting trouble spots in new relationships. I have given it to well over a dozen friends when they are encountering difficulties in a relationship.

It is about the process that any new relationship goes through, really no matter who you are dating. It is immensely helpful in understanding the stages that relationships go through and the anxiety that surfaces in interpersonal relationships.

I gave it to my boyfriend when he got very anxious. There was nothing wrong with the relationship, i.e. our interaction and time together. The book made it clear that anxiety is a personal issue and normal in a relationship. It doesn't mean something is wrong with the relationship.

I could not more highly recommend this book.

Self-help for people who hate self help.

I am not a self-help reader. But someone recommended this book to me and I find myself referencing it to all my single and coupled friends. If you've ever wondered why you never seem to have relationships at all, or why your relationships end after a few months (or weeks), or why you always end up with the wrong people, this is the book that explains it all. A relationship is as much about you as it is about another person, according to the book. It makes sense. This book helps you pinpoint the problems that stop you from finding someone, while remaining optimistic and, most importantly, realistic. And so much less painful than therapy.
