The First Human War is the beginning of a great series. Sci-fi in the old tradition, but with science updated to today's standards. The author sticks to the physical realities of time management regarding travel between stars (that we would surely face as a star-faring race) that other sci-fi books are reluctant to tackle. The only other author I know of brave enough to work under these constraints is Orson Scott Card in his Ender's series.

Not only is there non-stop action, but the First Human War is a story of human interaction, of five children lost in space, woven within an epic space opera promising to take us on a one-thousand-year ride. I look forward to the journey to come.
