Great book, don't by on nook

The content itself is great, but it's not useable on a nook. Laggy, and doesn't render properly on older nooks. It's written to be a paper book. With an index, it could be 5 stars plus!!!!

    The amateur's no-recipe solution

I know that you can add "just anything" to dried beans, but after thyme and basil, I don't know what to try. Well, funny I should ask. _The Flavor Bible_ has lots of suggestions. Just look up an ingredient (mushrooms, eggplant) or a spice (basil, cumin) and the careful authors list pairing that they have found by checking thousands of recipes. And they even tell you which are "classic" combinations and how the spices are often grouped. My favorite find so far is pairing gouda cheese and apples.

Why didn't this book exist before 2008?

This is some of the most important information that anyone who cooks needs so I don't understand why this book didn't exist before now. I use The Flavor Bible to look up whatever I'm cooking to check which spices, herbs, vinegars, oils, etc. that will make that ingredient taste even better. An indispensable book for every kitchen library.
