    exciting Scottish police procedural

In Aberdeen, Scotland, the remains of humans are found in a shipping crate and a butcher shop. The police brass immediately hone in on Kenneth ¿the Flesher¿ Wiseman who two decades ago got away with brutal murders on a legal technicality. Detective Sergeant Logan McRae goes to bring in the Flesher for questioning and perhaps a bit more.----------------- Having been part of the mishandled investigation twenty years ago, Detective Inspector David Insch plans to insure this time the Flesher does not get away with homicide even if he bends the law. As more body parts appear around the terrorized city, McRae concludes the police are investigating the wrong man, but he remains clueless as to who the brutal serial killer is and there is pressure on him is to keep digging into the Flesher.------------- FLESH HOUSE needs to carry a warning label: ¿do not read on a full stomach¿ as Stuart MacBride gets ultra gory with this exciting Scottish police procedural. McCrae makes the tale in his fourth investigation (see BLOODSHOT, DYING LIGHT and COLD GRANITE) as he bucks the brass seeking the culprit elsewhere. While doing so his amusing cynical commentary contrasts nicely to the bloody scenes and the pomposity of his superiors. Not for everyone, this is a vivid action packed thriller that colors Aberdeen red.------------ Harriet Klausner

It is the bloodiest book I have ever read and I enjoyed every chapter. In spite of the gore, it is not scary but at times was downright funny. Steele and Insch are caricatures and really enhance the book. I love this writer's style.

    more from this reviewer

If u Love Logan McRae like I do! Must have!

I was so shocked by the time I was done with this book....I just kept telling myself how I NEVER! Saw it comen, MacBride has never let me down until I ran out of his books to read. Not going to spoil the book for anyone, but I hope he brings the story line into another book to tie up loose ends ;) .....Good show MacBride never stop doing what u do.

    Gruesome

This book is hard to take at times. Not for anyone with a weak stomach. I do like the characters but the story sometimes gets bogged down. I like the humor and learning about Aberdeen and love figuring out the foreign lingo.

Don't read this one while eating!

This book was a little hard for me to read because of the minute details involving an abattoir....definitely not a book to read while eating a meal! But like Stuart MacBrides' first 3 books, this 4th book is a well-written page turner...just not during lunch.

    Rough on stomach

Another good one but hard on the gag reflex. Not for the quesy of stomach unless you are needing an incentive to go vegan.

    Highly Recommend!

But you should begin with the first book in this series to truly appreciate all that is DS Logan McRae. I love the way all the characters in this series are so very human and do not appear scripted for the future movie deal.
