This book was very helpful on my first trip to Florida's shelling beaches. The pictures were of very good quality and made it easy to recognize the different types of shells. The descriptions were very helpful and educational. I will refer back to this book on future shelling trips and as a learning tool with my grandchildren.

Highly recommend...for beginners and experienced alike.
The Witherington's have developed a spectacular model for their seashell guides, and this is another of their great ones! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
As a regional guide, the book begins with a map of Florida identifying the best beaches for finding shells, and then when and where on the beach to find various types of shells. There is a short anatomy lesson with illustrations to help you understand shell nomenclature/descriptions used throughout the book...great for beginners!
Shells are grouped by family and each entry includes a color photo and range map, with description and max size of shells. Many photos include color variations as well as juvenile and adult shells...makes it even easier to identify what you have found on the beach.
Really enjoy the way the Witherington's have presented this material in an easy to read, informative format...especially the color photos.
