WOW!! I wish I had this when I started

This book is great for young girls and teens starting into their "period" years. There are facts and information I didn't even know about and I am 55 years old and in menopause. And by the way, the menopause info. is great.
It is hard to look back on the early years of menstrual aids with anything but anquish and pain for all the women that put themselves through acidic douches and humiliation. Men, you didn't know any better then but thank god we women have finally seen the light and enlightenment in this area. I sas always curious what women did back in the day, and now I know.
Thank you for this wonderful book and I hope we keep making some progress with "the flow:.

    Awesome read!

As someone who's ultimate goal is to specialize in women's wellness/healthcare and just as a woman, this book was amazing. This book gives historical context to a process that's an integral part of being a woman. Some parts were disturbing. Lysol to clean the vaginal area?!?!?!? Talk about misogynistic! Ouch!

    Read this Book!!!

Finally, a compendium of information about menstruation that is presented in a witty, accessible and entertaining way! Flow is a thoroughly researched, well-written and beautifully designed look at menstruation. It presents an historical context, societal constructs and the impact of advertising on the perception of menstruation over the decades. Its worth buying the book just to see the compilation of vintage ads alone!

This book is perfect for any mom about to have "The Talk" with her daughter, for anyone who is interested in feminist thought (with an irreverent bent), or for anyone who enjoys having bizarre and fascinating information about a taboo subject. I, for one, plan to give this book as gifts this holiday season and I encourage everyone to do the same.
