Great stories of real people and real experiences
I am studying to become a translator, so I was drawn to this book because of that, but I would recommend this book to everyone, ESPECIALLY to those that know little about translation! The best part about Found in Translation are the stories from real translators and interpreters, situations they've been in and how they handled it, because often times they were in very serious situations (for example, volunteers helping in Hatian Creole after the earthquake in Haiti). The entire premise of the book is to show you how important translation is to EVERYBODY. At times it was a little repetitive ("Translation is important! Here's a story telling why!"), and the sections often seemed to stop abruptly, but the stories are what keeps you interested and reading on. Fairly easy read--don't worry if you know nothing about professional translation or interpretation, the authors explain what you need to know well without going into too much detail--something I would recommend.
