    Not bad, makes great points

Early on, Jay claims that (to paraphrase) because we enjoy freedoms in our country, the price we pay for our freedoms is the occasional trouble maker who will use the freedoms for bad. In other words, curtailing our freedoms in order to be 'safer' is about the worst thing we should do. Putting God Bless Our Troops stickers on our cars means not a whit, if we civilians can't live with a little trouble in our own lives ourselves. That's the price for freedom, a little messiness now and again. We don't take freedoms away because a few bad apples make a mess. We just move on.

I wasn't sure what to make of this book, but with such an intelligent beginning, I'll be sure to read the rest.

    No research required...

Luckily the book was free and I didn't lose any money on this garbage. This book quickly devolves into a non-researched diatribe against progressive reform and federal government power. If states had more power he might complain about that too. He may make some good points early on about the tendency for overreaction in a crisis but he loses all credibility when he basically states that congress should have no power to enact much of the legislation it does. Sorry buddy, but courts have upheld their power no matter your narrow-mindedness. You can certainly wish something to be true but that doesn't make it so. You'd be better off just keeping a blog. The founding fathers quotes are a nice touch. Unfortunately, the last time I checked they are all dead, and therefore have no say in our government. Government is for the living, not the dead.
